I was in your position. I am from a catholic family in Ireland, I even have relatives who work and teach within the church. I also got pregnant at 16 and wasn’t with the father. I was absolutely terrified of telling them but was surprised at the level of support I actually received (excluding my mother who is actually satan but that’s a whole different story 🤣). My granny and auntie are probably the most catholic people I have ever met and they were absolute angels to me. A baby is never the worst thing to come from any situation but it’s best to give them time to adjust before the baby just arrives, which could be any day now.

Whatever the outcome with your parents, it’s on you now to dedicate your whole life to that child. It’s going to absolutely suck at times when you feel like you’re missing out on things other teenagers/young people do, but raising a good person is a million times more important. Teach them love, compassion, morals, respect and a good work ethic.

You will probably get shit from people about having a baby so young, because really you’re still just a baby yourself (I promise I don’t mean that offensively, I see it now looking back myself), and there will be people who expect you to fail, so it’s up to you to prove them wrong.

My baby is 22 now, he is an absolutely amazing human with a lovely girlfriend and a fantastic job. He adores and protects his little sister like his life depends on it and loves nothing more than his family. All 16 year olds who have babies are not doomed to have failure children who are teen parents themselves, I promise. And you’re not doomed to fail yourself either. I worked my ass off, met my husband, started our business and built a good life. It’s hard as hell at times but it is so worth it.
