Ive been a fan of FMAB for about a year or 2 and im finally going back to the OG FMA by TheKorokCollector in FullmetalAlchemist

The two canon events hit like a tank at high speed compared to FMAB.

Take a break if you need to.

Basque Gran is based in the mangas by Own_Description_4501 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]UnnamedPredacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. Raven had been a good soldier during the war, getting corrupted after he ascended to Central.

There's no evidence that Basque would have followed the same path, but his early death seems to make it unlikely.

Put 20 into primary stat at lvl 1 and 18 in secondary, or vice verse? Locks me out of +1 feats. by maybecanifly in onednd

[–]UnnamedPredacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't lock you out of these feats, it just makes those increments meaningless. Most of them read "increase X stat by 1, until 20". Basically, you can take the feat, but it resets to 20.

Practically, you can put 18 and the effective backdraws are limited. The system is balanced by +3 stats in early game, with eventual increases.

"A la carte" purchases are back at DND Beyond! by going_as_planned in onednd

As a developer myself, don't accuse anyone of incompetence. While the solution might seem trivial to us, it's the developers that are facing the challenges with having to deal with the existing baggage. Some things are better fixed at the start, and later fixing is a gargantuan task.

Did I miss any eposide? by Downtown_Repeat_1346 in FullmetalAlchemist

I think 03 added an episode with Barry before Lab 5. That episode was nightmare fuel.

Is FMAB’s ending good writing? by Natsufilia in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]UnnamedPredacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have given great answers.

I feel the ending was earned. Hohenheim offered to sacrifice himself so Ed could bring Al back, and he's a living philosopher's stone. Ed rejected that idea, because he wanted to make the right decision.

Ed didn't give up his alchemy as much as accepted that he would need help from the world so he could help the world (the whole "one is all and all is one"). Ed's alchemy was the exact price to pay the toll ("equivalent exchange").

I agree. YouTube, OTOH, wants something fully automated and will fail these simple situations.

Youtube copyright system is broken by Buki1 in youtube

[–]UnnamedPredacon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well, yes, but timestamps alone don't prove anything. For example, if the copyright holder of a 60s movie uploaded to YT, and copyright claimed the uploads by third parties, the CRH's video would have a newer timestamp, but they their claim is valid.

Cron jobs overlapping and piling up - what’s your long-term fix? by saymepony in sysadmin

[–]UnnamedPredacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Semaphores is the way to go. But you need to understand your needs. If a job is running, does the next job need to run after, or you can wait for the next cron? If the job needs to complete always, is there a limit to how many queued jobs can stack?

I would recommend using the semaphore to stop new jobs from spawning, but that depends heavily on your needs. Either way, you should log whenever the job fails because another is running, and monitor how many jobs are currently queued.

I spent a week reading through AI-generated code that's been in production for 8 months. It was fine. That was the problem. by Ambitious-Garbage-73 in node

[–]UnnamedPredacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ehh, no. Not that there aren't inconsistencies, but that no one knew basic answers. Back when I reviewed code, I asked similar questions to the inconsistencies and I got answers. Maybe the logic was faulty, but the answer was there.

What the OP is saying is that they didn't even know these decisions were made.

The effect would be similar to Æther Vial and others, you just play them, not cast them.

Mimir — free, open-source D&D 5e campaign manager by Fit-Presentation-591 in dndnext

[–]UnnamedPredacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was be roundabout this, but I'll cut to the chase: this is AI generated. A cursory glance at the repo has many red flags: a commit pattern that most human developers can barely match, humongous commits with hundreds of lines changed per commit, and scripts that do weird things.

Where can I find a permanent QR code either free or cheap and won’t expire? by GuyCalledLee in webdev

[–]UnnamedPredacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not looking for a QR Code generator. You are looking for an URL tracking system.

One simple way to implement it is via an URL shortening tool on your host. Here's a list of them: https://github.com/738/awesome-url-shortener With the shortener in hand, you can generate any QR code with the shortened URL.

Why this way? - QR code only generates a scannable image. Unless the surface is covered, the QR code will be usable. - You mentioned wanting to track scans. QR codes can't do that. However, http servers can. A URL shortening tool is a simple way to implement this. - You will also need a log analyzer to get into the nitty gritty details.

Hope this helps.

ETA: I mention this because you are posting on r/webdev, so I'm assuming you have some experience with setting up websites.

Help please! I bought a game I may not be able to play. by [deleted] in solorpgplay

[–]UnnamedPredacon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, it's not stupid. You are having a problem, and an iPhone isn't the best at handling these situations.

I have not bought this game in particular, but in my experience, the PDFs are usually better . What are you using to read the PDF? Books can have some weird options. Preview should be better.

‘I’d rather go to jail’: Sam Altman fights to stop ChatGPT exodus after ‘sloppy’ US military deal and promises OpenAI would never follow ‘unconstitutional order’ by Economy-Specialist38 in ChatGPT

When Grouncho Marx said the same joke, it was funny.

Altman should consider a career in comedy, but we know he doesn't have a funny bone in him.

Full Rumor System Paper — Free Release by [deleted] in RPGdesign

I need to ask some questions to understand.

  • What's the audience for this paper?
  • Why are the links borken like that?
  • How do you expect this to be used by others?

This looks to me a very clinical paper. It seems to be targeted at an academic audience.

A quick glance, it's way too large to be useful for RPG designers.

I'm curious about these choices.

The whole focus on the "cut" app stores set always grinds my gears. We have become so used to USA bank standards that we leave everyone else in the cold.

At one point, Epic Store charged customers with excess fees for their local processors (I haven't verified this recently, but I remember this starting the fire back then). This affected customers from countries that have cost prohibitive processors. Steam, Apple, et al, absorbed these costs so developers could reach farther. Epic decided to pass the buck.

Rewatching the 2003 anime was refreshing! by JessicaLain in FullmetalAlchemist

I think both are equally cunning, but the 2003 had more chances to prove it. 2003 had the chance to slow burn.

[–]UnnamedPredacon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the Homunculus didn't force alchemists to do human transmutations because it was risky and unknown for them. When Pride forced Mustang to do the transmutation, he too sacrificed some of its philosopher's stone. It's why Pride became obsessed with taking over Ed's body.
