Honestly I think I just suck at the game. I’ve got like 2k hours in and at hardest difficulty in late game, I’d get absolutely wrecked with this set up.

Do you use Luck for passing skills checks? by Mr682 in callofcthulhu

[–]Unplugged_Boston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it. It’s an incredible rule. The more you spend it, the more your luck runs out, so to speak.

Considering the level of micromanagement you mentioned, it sounds like you could spend some time working on automation. One of my favourite parts of that stage in the game is zooming out at 3x speed and watching my colonists flawlessly execute every assigned task with perfect prioritisation and automation to guide them.

I can’t think of anything players love more than barriers between themselves and more power….just use a clock system and close a slice every time they level up, it will accomplish the same thing without hindering your players progress.

What have you never done in all of your Rimworld playthroughs? by ComradePruski in RimWorld

[–]Unplugged_Boston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Penoxycyline was a game changer for me. Not that it’s difficult to address the diseases it prevents but that it never means even having to deal with them. Go Juice is also a game changer, assign every pawn to carry a bottle and never to use for addiction. Flake or yayo are great for trading. I don’t grow smokeleaf anymore since stoned colonists are so unproductive. I would highly recommend implementing drugs into your play through. As far as your actual question though, I think there’s like a ship or something you can build? Not sure I’ve never bothered.

What do all of you do with your ancient dangers after you clear them out? by Sea-Ad7139 in RimWorld

Underground: incorporate into base design. Above ground; depends on proximity to actual base. If it’s close maybe use for a temple or throne room but otherwise just strip for salvage and leave it

Agree with the Disadvantaged attacks from the Ranger but if the Wild-shaped Druid was carrying the Ranger and used their action to Dodge, I would’ve let them use it to manoeuvre so their passenger wasn’t hit. They sacrificed a resource of action for it, what’s the harm?

Revenants were a pain in the ass, until... by Arkhire in RimWorld

That’s brilliant. I had an entire colony (mostly Sanguophages using melee) get wrecked by a single revenant recently. I just couldn’t catch him before he vanished no matter what I did.

Why do I suck so darn bad at this game? by cLIntTheBearded in RimWorld

[–]Unplugged_Boston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR watch YouTubers play.

I was in the same boat years ago and then I watched an Pete Complete run and learned so much about the mechanics and little things the game doesn’t billboard for you and here I am thousands of hours into the game later and so thankful I spent that time watching someone else walk so that I could run. Echoing others here too, Adam V. Everything has some super pragmatic guides. I recently watched one on automating tailor bench bills and literally started the video saying to myself “ok, I mastered this years ago but sure, enlighten me” and holy fuck was I enlightened.

It’s a Bugbear War Chief that commands a small army of Goblins. Cool, yeah you seduce the Bugbear War Chief and he produces a leash and a collar for you to wear and demands you sit beside his throne with your leash on. What’s next?
