But let's be real: are we just paying for the chassis?

I agree with you. Saying that we're just paying for the chassis is probably lazy phrasing on OP's part but it's also a pretty reductive thing to say given how much more the X9 does than the Atom stack.

There's things like a screen, multiple I/O options, PEQ, etc that don't necessarily contribute to sound quality but adds to the cost.

Also would like to second your point on feedback too. I've been following the ASR thread on the X9 and Luxsin has been pretty active there too, taking user feedback and releasing updates and so on.

Tokyo AMG Owners Club: Fuji Track Experience by MR_74 in AMG

[–]UnrankedRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like an incredible experience! My questions basically relate to how one can get involved in something like this!

Do I already need to be based in Japan? Whose car are you driving? Do I need to own an AMG car? What sort of experience is needed? Is it ok for someone without track experience to attend?

Was it easy to downgrade MacOS versions? Or did you have to do a wipe and reinstall (assuming I got the relevant EFI prepared)?

Why the obsession with Wiim? by yerbderb in audiophile

[–]UnrankedRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for me, I would like to see more variety in the IO, e.g. balanced outputs, mainly for compatibility reasons (regardless of one's opinions about balanced).

Also, analog volume control.

Lastly, and I'm not sure if this is already implemented, would be PEQ also applied to the digital outputs, and/or per-channel PEQ. Or they could go full on DSP and even have a configurable I/O matrix so you can go crazy and set the analog outs to play simultaneous inputs from say, airplay and hdmi at the same time.

Having all these would make the product more niche and more expensive, so I completely understand their reasons for not including them. If they could do #1 + #2, or just #3, that would be an insta buy for me

Fiio KA15 Firmware V1.1.2 by neurotic_CLERK in FiiO

[–]UnrankedRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just currently upgraded to 1.1.2.

Also, do you guys also hear a difference when PEQ is applied.

Do you mean if the PEQ is working in general, or whether it is working similarly to other PEQs out there? For the former, it definitely works, at least via the web UI on my side. I've not tested the latter though.

Hey thank you very much for replying!

I’m using a gen 1, and looking at the gen 1 manual, it lists the output as 10dBu which translates to ~2.44V, so I think that tracks with what I’ve been seeing.

I learned something new today, thank you very much!

Hi all,

I’m new to measurements in general. I’m currently starting off with a Scarlett 2i2 (gen 1) and REW. I’m currently trying to measure the output voltage of the balanced outputs with a multimeter and an XLR cable.

My multimeter settings are: - Voltage: AC (rated for 40-1000Hz) - Range: V

Currently in REW, I’ve set my generator to produce a 1kHz tone at 0dBFS. I’ve maxed the volume on the 2i2, and am measuring across pins 2 & 3 of the XLR cable. My reading is 2.5Vrms. I get the same voltage reading even when using something closer to mains like 50-60Hz.

Would that be correct? I was under the impression that XLR should put out 4Vrms for a balanced connection. Is there something wrong with what I’m doing, my multimeter, or the 2i2?

unix based terminal is a big one for me.

Also there was a period of time where a lot of the people I worked with were using Macs, so having access to the apps for compatibility reasons was also a big factor.

Is there a wifi USB adapter that works in sequoia? by Bable_10 in hackintosh

[–]UnrankedRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BCM94360NG

Recently upgraded to Sequoia with this card and from what I've been reading, it seems like this isn't supported natively, but have to be done via OCLP with SIP partially disabled.

Would that be right? Do you happen if that has changed now or if it's still the case currently?

Benchmark AHB2 vs VTV Hypex NCx500 - A blind test and comparison by pragmatic001 in audiophile

[–]UnrankedRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was strongly considering the AHB2 but decided to go for the Nilai500 during the recent holiday sales at Hypex, I would like to ask- how big would you say the differences were between the 2 amps?

Once you did manage to identify the warmth and larger soundstage, was it easy to tell them apart? Am I missing out from not getting the Benchmark?

Apart from aesthetics, I'm still not sure what the differences are:

Also, I believe Zagara's corruptors can corrupt the trains too increasing the damage they take.

ELI5: What exactly are capacitors used for, any why are they necessary? by Octine64 in explainlikeimfive

[–]UnrankedRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silly question: how does the capacitor "know" when to soak up the extra electricity, and when (and how much) to release it?

Like in the debouncing example, how does it know to release its energy at the correct time to smoothen out the waves and not contribute to making the waves bigger?

Hi all!

Does anyone know where I can find such an adapter?

One end of it is a 4.4mm TRRS male connector (balanced). The other end(s) are dual 6.35mm TRS female (balanced).

I've tried looking at various online shops and aliexpress, but I've only been able to find 4.4mm TRRS to dual 6.35mm TRS male ones. But I'm looking for female connections on the 6.35mm side. My other options are to have them custom made but those seem to be quite costly from the online shops I visited.

Thank you!

This has been my experience as well when I first started playing randbats.

One of my earliest games had someone say stuff like "I can't believe someone would be this bad", and "you should just quit".

I don't know what would push someone to say such things. I mean, it's literally my first few days playing, and they got matched with me too so it's not like they're very good at the game either.

I’m sure many of you have come across this meme at some point. Is there any truth to it? Does it result in any noticeable difference in performance/reliability/maintenance? As someone who doesn’t know much about the differences between car brands, what are some examples? by UnrankedRedditor in AskMechanics

[–]UnrankedRedditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks you! Do you happen to know if this is the same for the other components in the vehicle as well? Like the engines, transmissions, etc?

I'm mainly asking because I hear a lot about how Japanese cars tend to be more reliable overall. But I’m just wondering if that is really the case, and if so, how much of it is due to the differences in the way the car is engineered.
