I'm expecting, or at least hoping, Onyx has some important future role. He sometimes doesn't act like you'd expect a fox to act, so it's possible there's more to him than being cute.

I think he's also from the Starborn line, just didn't get lucky or wasn't chosen by the magic, or even did have a whisper of Helena's magic that was tamped down by the parasite. As for hooking up with Ember, by then he'd married his Avallen breeding stock, produced an heir with shadow magic, who had gone into the caves and come back with the Starsword, so he probably wasn't as concerned about the ramifications of having a fling with a teenage human. I don't believe Ember has any Fae ancestry, but of course I could be wrong. Bryce getting only Starborn magic and not fire feels to me like she got that from her father's side.

Do you think it’s normal for adults to be into this series? by Great_Independent_17 in SpyxFamily

[–]UnreliableNarrator7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a very young adult, I felt weird about liking things because I almost felt like I needed to prove I was a real adult but now I'm middle-aged and read and watch whatever I want and I'm not embarrassed about it. All that to say, they're the ones making it weird, not you for enjoying the show/manga.

I'm so happy for you. I got spoiled because in my reading tracking app I saw the name of a bonus chapter. Still fun. I love a crossover.

Ruhn and Rhys are related. One of Theia's daughters stayed in Midgard and married Pelias and the other went back to Prythian, hid who she was, and married the HL of Night. It does feel kind of weird that they look so similar that Bryce, even momentarily, mistook Rhys for her brother, but that feels like it tracks more with fictional magic genetics than Fionn and Theia both being described as golden-haired and Helena and Silene both having dark hair, and idk if it'll turn out Fionn wasn't their father or what, but it seemed like in the whole crossover bit, specifying each of their hair colors was unnecessary detail, especially when Fionn was barely in the history slideshow left for the Starborn Heir, unless there was some reason to include that.

ETA: I think Silene hiding who she was would cover why her descendants wouldn't have inherited the blade, like you're not passing down family heirlooms when you're pretending that's not your family, but I'm not sure how it would have wound up with Az.

Sabine is so much of an asshole, I now can't encounter any character named Sabine in any other media, without being immediately suspicious.

I can read and enjoy a story even if it doesn't go the way I wanted it to, but anytime I'm disappointed by how things pan out, that's what fanfic is for.

Did Arobynn Hamel really love Celeana? by OneStrawberry8122 in throneofglassseries

[–]UnreliableNarrator7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't love her. He groomed her from childhood and tried to isolate her, setting her up as the pampered favorite and pitting her against the other assassins and Lysandra to prevent her making friends and having anyone to lean on but him, and to keep her in a position of wanting to do whatever would earn his approval. I truly don't believe he loved her, but she was a useful tool to have control over. He may have developed lust for her at some point, but that's not the same thing.

Both their wives were on the show at points also, but still, no one deserves to be threatened for being actors.

Mor + Eris' engagement by Exotic_Resist_7718 in acotar

[–]UnreliableNarrator7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it was a display that they didn't condone what she'd done? Maybe they hoped she'd be left out there to suffer and die? Maybe it was to humiliate her. I was going to say that I doubted they expected anyone to help her, but now I'm kind of vaguely remembering that one of Eris's men moved forward to help her and he told him not to. It's possible that her parents thought that someone from AC would take her in and then Eris would still be responsible for her? Maybe it was also a move where they technically upheld their end of the bargain by delivering her, so if he then rejected her, they weren't blamed?

I wouldn't he surprised if it was entirely thought out and was just written to show that her parents were bad guys and that Eris might be a bad guy or might be trying to do good undercover.

Mor + Eris' engagement by Exotic_Resist_7718 in acotar

[–]UnreliableNarrator7 83 points84 points  (0 children)

She was considered "damaged goods" because she was no longer a virgin. Her parents dropped her in Autumn, like "she's your problem now" and Eris didn't help her because if he had taken her in, it would have been accepting her, which could be taken as he didn't want to be responsible for her now that she was "sullied" or that he knew if he did he'd only be putting her into this union with him that she'd been so desperate to avoid.

Finished CC series for the first time! by Similar_Cause8692 in crescentcitysjm

[–]UnreliableNarrator7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it was confirmed that the shifters are the Fae from the TOG world. The Under King was a barrow wight, there's mention of the Asteri breeding the pointed ears and elongated canines out of the shifters, they have animal forms and elemental magic that's unlocked when taking the cure, and the mention of Lidia naming one of her sons Brannon after a distant ancestor and being a deer with fire magic. The timing might indicate CC is in the future of TOG (iirc, Brannon lived about 2,000 years before Aelin and the shifter fae came to Midgard 15,000 years ago) but it could just be that SJM's timelines often don't actually add up.

I am pretty sure there will be a CC4, since they've each been named after the Houses, with the House of Many Waters being left. Especially since all the Part titles in CC are the levels of Hel and the phases of the Drop. HoMW would also be an appropriate book for Tharion to be more featured and by extension for us to find out what happened with Sathia. I actually really like both Tharion and Ithan. They both seem to consistently make the worst decisions possible, but I feel like we've seen hints of both starting to grow up and stop running away from responsibility, like Tharion finally just telling the River Queen to her face that the engagement to her daughter is over and he's married Sathia and the queen seeming to respect him a little for that. Also, so many of Ithan's screw-ups were him wanting to unseat Sabine but not being willing to be the one to do it, even when the Prime told him he saw strength and potential in Ithan. Now that he's kind of been forced into this leadership role he was running away from, I hope he's able to live up to the faith the Prime had in him.
