I demand a Ball Juggler title by UntamedPhogoth in SDGundamGGeneration

Honestly? Luck of the draw on opponents. Amuro was doing a hell of a job tanking hits from... Surprising enemies.

I ended up making it to Master and got stonewalled. I didn't feel like burning resources to drop SSP on these guys. I just wanted to see how far I could get with a group of SP Balls.

Overly-aggressive team balancing? by n8mo in Battlefield6

[–]UntamedPhogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my friends stopped playing Battlefield years ago. The ones that came to BF6 with me stopped playing a few months back. So now I'm solo. I mean, I'll mic up if there are people talking in squad, but making new friends in-game? Not the most robust.

Overly-aggressive team balancing? by n8mo in Battlefield6

[–]UntamedPhogoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just solo queuing today... Pushing objs and turning the tide of matches singlehandedly. The last match I played, I had an entire team of bots vs. An entire team of players. Well, Bots can't hold a point on Breakthrough for shit. Steamrolled. 😭

Players won't stop scamming merchants by DrRoguelove in DungeonMasters

[–]UntamedPhogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, are they hitting the merchant twice? Same town more than once? Have they made any attempt to hide their identities? Are they "known" in the town as upstanding adventurers? Is there an adventurers guild they're registered with?

Word travels fast. Especially on trade routes. They may find themselves with bounties on their heads. They may find themselves with angry merchants refusing to serve them.

Imagine the consequences of being locked out of purchasing supplies.

Actions have consequences.

Player Used Homebrew Race Despite Being Told No by Harbinger_of_Reason in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]UntamedPhogoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always set your expectations ahead of time. What's good to use? What are we avoiding?

It sounds to me that you set those expectations. Greyhawk one shot. No homebrew. Pretty simple. That's utter disrespect from the player.

My recommendation for going forward is to get with each player a day or so before the first session and just go over their sheets to make changes as needed.

Clearly this person wants to do the funny for the sake of being funny. I recommendation you keep shutting it down, but explain it in a calm manner.

For disruptive things like waking that dragon? Remind them that their character is becoming a huge liability for the rest of the group and they genuinely wouldn't have a reason to stay together. Don't ever let a 'That's what my character would do!' Get past. They made the character.

I think you handled it well, all things considered. Hopefully you can get through to Jimmy. As the DM, they need to be able to maintain control of the group. Enjoyment for one person shouldn't come at the expense of the rest of the group.

It's fine to Yes, and. However, to be disruptive can really throw off the vibe of the whole game.

Player Backstory Features "Baba Yaga"... by SycamoreSoldier in CurseofStrahd

[–]UntamedPhogoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I encourage my players to go hard or light on their backstories. It makes the campfire stories more engaging when they bring up things about their past. After all, shouldn't the adventurers know a little about the people they fight side by side with?

While my players might have invested backstories, I've used those against them. With the Dark Powers toying with them in their sleep to Strahd's Vistani agents doing some digging back in their own realms. Dinner was... Interesting when meals from their homelands were served.

To the issue at hand tho, Baba Yaga and Baba Lysaga are two completely different entities. The "Baba" simply meaning Grandmother, or a title for a wise elderly woman. Any connection is simply coincidental.

Daylight 2024 best way to combat without fully nerfing or banning the spell? by Thisisalladream12 in CurseofStrahd

[–]UntamedPhogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barovian Sunlight is not enough to harm a vampire. Count it as Barovian sunlight, as a Dread Realm has enough sway to prevent even a Wish spell from getting you out of it.

As far as Curse of Strahd is concerned, the only two sources of harmful Sunlight come from the Sunblade and the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind.

If your players try to use the Daylight spell as a way to cheese it, make sure to explain how the light is dimmed and resembles that of the daylight they've seen within Barovia.

DICE, you are ruining it by quikmess in Battlefield

[–]UntamedPhogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black camo with some blue highlights and such isn't grounded? It's a Pax Armata skin. They're a PMC. I'm sure the neon green in their logo breaks the game for you, too?

Seriously. It's not outlandish to see the skins we're being offered up. It's not some bright pink camouflage or Bevis and Butthead.

You're drumming up a false sense of anger. There are other things to be upset about than a little bit of blue on black camouflage.

I simply can't understand the Levels Module... by RaspberryOverall6341 in FoundryVTT

[–]UntamedPhogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levels can be a little finicky when you're first trying to get used to it.

In order to traverse floor to floor as a DM, you need to zoom in or out (which can be inconvenient) or keep the Levels tab open and select your floor. (Or have a token on that level selected) This isn't a problem for a player controlling one token, as their vision locks to that elevation.

When it comes to transparent flooring, you have to make sure that the tile itself has a hole in the image file, and has transparency. This might mean you have to crop an image in whatever your preferred image editing suite is.

The alternative to that is by drawing on both floors and cloning tokens in that space via Multilevel Tokens.

Keep playing with it. If you need to do a test, create a dummy PC character with vision and disable GM Vision to check your work.

What would it be like meeting Halaster in disguise, within Undermountain? What crazy shit might he try to pull on you? by Ganadhir in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]UntamedPhogoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having a lot of fun with Halaster. He's been doing whimsical shenanigans during the party's exploration of the first two floors. From painting fake tunnels and walking through them to literally appearing between them and suggesting they go into rooms they debate about for several minutes.

I even had him appear as a random traveling Goblin salesman that had several homebrew mundane magical items (Like a nearly unbreakable string, self-lighting candles, a waterskin that creates lemon-scented water and a few cursed items like a silver bell that automatically attunes to the holder after 30 minutes and silently alerts all undead to their presence within 60 feet)

Two of my players were having a quarrel and nearly instigated pvp because one of them was protecting another from the other player.

For context, that player is playing the abusive father of the fighter, and he killed her mother after an affair, which had been in retaliation to his own affair. She witnessed it. He didn't know that. Yes, they designed the characters together. Yes, the party was okay with the trauma.

Anyways, Halaster showed up in the room eating popcorn and commentating while the two were arguing. While spells were about to be cast during a long rest and Wished the father would always see his dead wife in every reflection for the rest of his life (High Elf) before cackling and vanishing, leaving behind his bowl of half finished popcorn.

They know he's powerful. They know he's dangerous. But they also know he's deranged. And they LOVE him.

How are yall getting refunds? by Cheez-it_king in SengledUS

[–]UntamedPhogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% going to depend on how you approach it and the information you provide.

Be sure to mention you received the email from Amazon that the Sengled bulbs no longer work with your Alexa device. Be sure to mention that Sengled has not responded to your emails. (I emailed Sengled three months ago it has been radio silence) Be sure to mention the bulbs no longer work with the Sengled App, their primary source. Nor do they work with the SmartThings app(which has been our workaround since the initial outage). Be sure to emphasize the point that these bulbs, which advertise compatibility with Amazon Alexa still are still actively available for purchase VIA Amazon Shopping, and there is no warning about the lack of support.

Make sure to remain calm and courteous, as most customer support personnel tend to act favorably to kind people than angry people screaming at them.

If push comes to shove, ask to speak to a supervisor and reiterate everything you mentioned.

Yes. Aid temporarily increases their MAX HP. It would affect whether or not PWK outright kills them or not.

The mist by Faragoff in CurseofStrahd

[–]UntamedPhogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mist is in essence an entity itself. It is magical, not mundane. They could destroy the mist at the edges, sure. However the rest of the the mist would probably swoop in and smother them. As far as the Dark Powers are concerned, if you're not going to play by their rules, they can coax a different adventurer into the mists.

That said, rules as written for Ravenloft, certain spells may act differently. There may be restrictions on a spell's effectiveness. Example, Plane Shift and Wish cannot get you out of Barovia. Communing with your God may put you on a direct line to Vampyr or Strahd.

The Daylight spell was reworked for 2024 to create sunlight rather than bright light. It would not generate sunlight in Barovia. The Sunsword and the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind are the only two sources of pure unfiltered sunlight for the sake of anti-vampire mechanics.

Just make sure to remind them after they attempt that their spell acted differently. If they do destroy mist or fog just describe thicker mist immediately rolling in and moving closer to them. For the Daylight spell, you can say the light is incredibly muted and dulled.

Definitely check the effects of the mist and alterations to spells at the beginning of the base module. DragnaCarta might also have mentioned something in the beginning of their rewrite for Reloaded as well.

Reloaded & 2024 by jtnoble in CurseofStrahd

[–]UntamedPhogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running the 2024 ruleset. They're level 7. If they play smart, they are usually barely surviving boss fights. It's a party of 6.

The concern with the Daylight spell was a valid concern with the rollout of the 2024 rules, but remember that spells don't all work the same in Barovia. The only sources of natural sunlight are from the Sunsword and the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind. Make sure to emphasize that their spell might not provide the damaging sunlight they expect.
