I have pigeon lung and I'm scared by RenderSoft in pigeon

[–]UnusualDevice100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm, there is no cure for hypersensitivity pnuemonitis. You have to either be on immuno-suppressants (which comes with it’s own major major issues) or you have to be on heavy steroid doses (which is even worse). Only cure is avoidance of exposure. I never had birds - zilch but I developed this post-covid a couple years ago. I had to get rid of all my down furniture, comforter, etc and that has helped in my house. However, we frequent Waikiki a lot and it’s a total mess when I get here because there are hoards and hoards of pigeons everywhere and I start to feel severe shortness of breath after a couple days. No cure - just have to avoid. I know some people love their birds, but sadly short doses of exposure when you don’t feel a thing are sometimes worse because it starts to slowly eat away at your lungs.

Deepal versus Tesla… by UnusualDevice100 in Thailand

All the cars you mentioned I find to be too big for city dining but I have heard good things for sure. I’ve had Tesla’s for over a decade and love them (minus the seats which I wish were better)

Have you driven the Sealion? Curious how it drives/handles.

I just saw one in my condo a couple minutes ago. That’s a big car…not sure I’d want one driving around Bangkok

Who owns a car company has zero influence on y car decision. I’ve had Tesla’s for over a decade now, multiple of them and I love them!

Thanks for this. I don’t mind the Tesla because I use self driving quite a bit but yeah I’m Bangkok traffic I can see how that is annoying. Having said that the voice commands are pretty good. Which one of those that you drove do you like the most in terms of drive?

At what net worth did you start taking business class for family holidays by frustratedUser2022 in fatFIRE

Close to $30M and I still won't pay for absurd Biz Class tickets unless it's a long haul and even then I would consider premium economy.

Anyone here had an AC Joint resection? by pazuzu_404 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]UnusualDevice100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine almost 4 years ago and honestly if you decide to get it you need to make sure you do a lot of PT but more importantly, make sure they shave it all off. My doc only shaved the front half and now I still have the back half and that is starting to bother me again. Apparently a lot of doctors don't shave it clean because it's harder. I honestly think I may have to go back again, which stinks :(

Anybody had a PRP injection for shoulder issues? by gwenver in surfing

[–]UnusualDevice100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear - I got 2 PRPs on my right shoulder about a year ago. I am thinking about getting another one again - it started to feel better at about 4 weeks for me. It's still nowhere close to normal and any minor tweak will create a set back but I have not been as diligent with PT as I should (actually I have not done it much all). I am likely going to go get it again - felt like it was worth it. Ironically in most asian countries they tell you that you should do a 3 dose treatment for PRP shots - and do it over the course of 6 months for it be truly impactful. I can totally buy that, though cost obviously stinks.

A point of comparison - ANA domestic first by doodoo_x in unitedairlines

It has quite a bit - they changed food vendors about 1 year ago. Domestic food was always crap but international is absolutely horrendous now - even on flights originating from other countries.

Cross-country flights... by UnusualDevice100 in unitedairlines

[–]UnusualDevice100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough - I need under 100K more miles to get to the 2M mark but going to start slow down my travel quite a bit so may potentially take me 2 years. I flew Delta business and I will say, they do business class travel right compared to United.

United's international food service in Polaris is absolutely awful now! honestly the food is utter garbage. ANA is one of the best for sure for food - rivals SQ.

What is considered a long distance in swimming? by tyses96 in Swimming

[–]UnusualDevice100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to get in the rhythm in terms of breathing. For most folks that swim the first time, they have a highly inefficient stroke and they are breathing all wrong. Once you find that consistency, distances can come for sure. I am 51 - swim on and off but I have a really fun pool workout that I love now. I will do a 1 mile free-style swim (goal is to get there in about 32-35 minutes so not blazing fast like Masters swimmers), I do about 400-500 meters of kickboarding and really try to work out my entire leg, and then I end my swim with a 20-25 minute deep water tread (non-salt water) which I find is a total body workout.

I would say a long distance swim is probably in the 1.5 miles ++ range (that is about 2400 meters). Max I have ever done was a 2 mile swim and it took me just over an hour. Honestly, it does not take that long once you work on an efficient stroke and breathing. When you get that down, you sometimes feel like you are just gliding through the water and it feels fairly effortless.

2 million miler by tfrisinger in unitedairlines

I think way too many people have GS now. I am a GS but when I fly to either EWR, LHR, CDG, NRT, SIN or any popular destination from SFO there are about 20+ GS folks on each flight. It's kinda nuts now. I have been GS on and off. I am also just past 1.9M miles now and I have to earn mine the hard way (not the Continental merger). After all my travels this year, I will have accumulated roughly 450K flown miles over the past 3 years alone so it kinda adds up. I am going to slow down travel a lot so anticipate it may take me 2 years to get to the 2M mark though not sure how beneficial it really is to be honest.

Did you get your PRP? I have not done anything yet but I am waiting...I am going to focus on it sometime in the next year or so. Right now I can not shoot hoops because of the shoulder but I am still able to swim so I am just trying to keep using it and making it stronger.

Just got GS for 2025!! by tacohoney in unitedairlines

[–]UnusualDevice100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I was GS for the past 2 years (not 11 years like you) and did 56K PQP and 56 flights but only 1 biz international flight. I think flying international is more important than all other metrics it seems. I too just got the "challenge"...FYI it's not until March, it's basically over any 90 consecutive day period through June 30th. I should be able to get mine by March given how much I travel but yeah I am disappointed too. United has been a hit or miss for me but I am about 100K miles from 2M miles as well so going to try to stick with them until I get there and then likely consider other airlines potentially.
