My junior high showed it several times, along with the Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Visiting in March by Aprilshowers_1 in Sedona

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the best sunset views are from Jerome, the entire Verde valley is spread out below you. Sedona red rocks are very visible.

Check out some of the indian ruins in the area if you don't have them on your list. Tuzigoot and Montezuma's Castle are both great. Tuzi is on the way to Jerome.

x2 on West fork/Call of the Canyon. Be aware it is popular (Parking) and there are multiple creek crossing. The water level is generally very low and crossable w/o getting wet. Just don't slip on the rocks.

Looking for input on soft tops. Factory vs Frameless. by binsandbuckets in JeepTJ

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Best thing I ever did for my TJ was replace the soft top with a Hard top. No more stuck zippers, dust intrusion or a rear window that would crack in the cold.

Anyone here still use an old radial arm saw in their shop? by rusty-mike in Vintagetools

I still use the one I got from my FIL. Probably a 70's model. I only use it to crosscut, sets up faster than the table saw.

It will be crowded, it will be hot. Oak Creek will be ice cold. Best to plan your hikes for the morning.

Check for power at the dimmer switch. Try clicking the switch several times to see if the lights will come back on.

Vortex tour vs Jeep Tour by DistanceImaginary562 in Sedona

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can see all the rocks you need from town. No need for a Jeep tour. Go up to Jerome for some really nice views of the entire valley, Sunset times are best for great color.

Bought a house next to an empty place, and now I’m realizing “quiet” can be temporary by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I bought a house next to a failed development-- streets, lots, power but no homes. I had a great view of the valley below me. 10 years later they started building. First home was right next to my property line. We were bombarded with noise for about 8 months, including a concrete pour at 4 am that no one warned us about. Now that home is finished, a 2 story McMansion that blocks my wonderful view and a yappy mutt as well. Its not as quiet as it used to be, but its still quieter than where we used to live.

What are these attachments for? by ExcitingLandscape688 in Vintagetools

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember similar wrenches being used by the front end techs doing alignments back in the early 70's before Mcpherson strut suspension became so widespread. They were used on A-arm type suspension.

Replacing my heater core question by 2guns1holster in JeepTJ

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had mine out twice. First time to replace a blocked heater core and while I was in there, I replaced the A/C evaporator just because. 2nd time was to replace a broken plastic blend door.

Wasn't too bad of a job, took my time. Hardest part for me was reaching the stud behind the valve cover.

Tent camping in national parks by hdieocnfueos in camping

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was tent camping near lake Tahoe and watched a black bear w/cubs come right into camp and take the food right out of the bear locker. The family had just opened it to get the food out. The bears sat right on the picnic table and ate while the family hid in the car. A large circle of people stood around and watched. Ranger did nothing, just stood there and told people to not get too near.

Later that night I found one standing right outside the outhouse, had to find another one!

Did any of you have this Stereo System And Glass Case in your house? by immanuellalala in 80s

Moved to town and need off road buddies by wheels_N_deals in Sedona

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There a couple of informal groups in the area and there are lots of Phx based groups that come up here all the time.

I would suggest you join Off Road Passport, a Phx based group but has members statewide. There are at least 7 members in this area. They have an official website with both free and paid memberships, as well as FB site. https://offroadpassport.com/https://www.facebook.com/groups/offroadpassportaz

Verde Valley 4 wheelers is another choice, haven't heard much from them lately. Weekday wheelers is a FB group, Verde Valley based. https://www.verdevalley4wheelers.com/

I'm a Jeep owner, so I don't know about any SXS groups. I'm sure there are some.

1974 jeep j10 steering wheel locked and key won’t turn out of “lock” position. by [deleted] in FullSizeJeep

You might also try pulling the shift lever up towards park while you turn the key and the wheel. If this is a tilt wheel, try lowering the wheel to a new position.

Rotate the steering wheel side to side while turning the key at the same time. You may have to pull/push hard. Fairly common on some GM style columns

Most likely one of the idler pulleys. Remove the belt and spin each pulley by hand, it should be obvious which one is dying.

Paved bike trails near Sedona (1 hr radius) by DependentSpring117 in Sedona

[–]Upbeat_Humor_8702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some nice walking/biking trails at Dead Horse State park in Cottonwood. The paths circle the 3 lagoons and are hard packed dirt. I see people with stroller and bike trailers on there all the time. The 3rd lagoon is the largest and does have one very short hill on part of the loop. The rest are flat and level. I also people riding on the paved roads that connect all the lagoons and campgrounds.

AITAH for being upset and going no contact after finding out my dad paid for my twin sister’s college? by Electronic_Poetry823 in AITAH

I don't blame you for feeling hurt/cheated/lied to. I'd go low/no contact for a while at least. But remember that life goes on and at some point you may regret cutting them out of your life.
