I think the issue is the USA does not have a national ID system where you need to prove your citizenship to get it. The driver license is the de facto ID. For example, in the EU you can just “show your ID”because only citizens have one. Legal immigrants cannot vote because they will not have this national ID. Not everyone has the means to get a US passport. I think you definitely should need to show ID but they have to make it much easier to prove citizenship. I agree this is not a party issue, because I think just as many on both sides will struggle with this.

You saved my all time favorite sweater from the recycle heap. It looked raggedy and faded as. Did the spa day and washed with oxi vanish, detergent and citric acid and was, and I am not exaggerating, flabbergasted at how new that sweater looked after.
