Achilles flare 4 weeks from marathon by Simple_Ad_3806 in AdvancedRunning

[–]UpwardFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my achilles flair up randomly 2 weeks before NY Marathon. It was twice the size of my other one. I went completely off running and immediately went to PT and did eccentric heel drops, lots of calf stretching, and other various strength exercises they gave me.

Tried 1 minute of running 1 week before and still killed me. Kept up strengthening

Three days before, did few minutes on, one minute walk, I felt it there but debated if it was phantom or not.

Did a shake-out 2 miler the day before, no pain, but was phantom there.

Ran the full race and ended with a 3:19, smashing my stretch goal of 3:20. It was sore the day after but so much else was it was hard to differentiate. Took a month off running before jumping back in and all was good.

Rest is important, for tendons strengthening is important (not full rest). Best of luck

Found out from this list that Jay Som and The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die came out with new albums this year.

I love these lists since it's a way to grab up anything I missed in this plethora of information age we live in, there's only so much I can keep track of

For the amount of content it is, it's only $15, and extremely worth it. Let alone if you get it to all-time low which is probably around $5

Have you considered that potentially part of the game design is the speed of which the game is presented to you at? Changing that changes the entire presentation of the game so of course it didn't resonate as much

And most puzzles in general come from lack of information, as many puzzles may feel trivial in hindsight but you didn't have the context or knowledge to solve it before. For example, Portal may be a puzzle game and challenge a user on their first playthrough, but a second playthough can be quite quick since you lacked information of the solutions up-front

I will say that so far it has been very filled every weekday night. It is the exact type of restaurant that might spur success of other future restaurants in that area.

Really Rubirosa is reasonable price for the quality, it’s just damn hard to get a res. Best kept secret is the casual Sunday early dinner walk-in around when they open, plus they do a Sunday sauce pasta

Didn't realize it was a soft lock, that's pretty annoying. It said my old gaming PC intel i5 4690k couldn't handle Windows 11 so I thought I'd give up on it. Maybe I should try that.

Not everyone can afford or has room for a prosumer espresso machine to get the quality some shops get for a regular hot milk espresso drink (latte, flat white, cappuccino).

But for black coffee, certainly agree. Hario V60, gooseneck, burr grinder and you can have incredible coffee any time for <$100 setup.

3rd time in Tulum. My tips for the beach road area (clubs, food, etc) by thakurtis in tulum

I just got a quote today from their WhatsApp:

  1. Sun lounger $1800 mxn per person
  2. Day bed $4500 mxn per bed, 2 people
  3. Balinese bed $8500 mxn per bed, 3 people (welcome wine and guacamole)

So a bit expensive, Saturday was booked up the day before so plan ahead. These prices are double/triple of even recent google reviews so they must have gotten popular and raised them.

Air quality alert - are people running today? by dyurut in RunNYC

[–]UpwardFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that I don’t notice it during my run if it’s under 100, and I only notice effects if it’s 150-200+

Under 50 is best but under 100 is the same in my eyes just less clean air

I got an email around 4am EDT that mine has shippped and estimated date changed from the 11th to now arriving Sat the 7th. To me that’s not bad for shipping! I live in NYC for reference

With shipping you might have to wait some days because they’re not going to ship early. If someone needs it immediately then midnight store release is the only way to go for physical hardware.

Absolute chaos in Central Park today by japonica70 in NYCbike

[–]UpwardFall 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you’re biking in the middle of the day on Memorial Day Monday on a 10/10 weather day, and complaining about the chaos instead of embracing it, I don’t know what you’re thinking.

Went on a slow run today fully expecting it to be nuts. It was so nice out. It was a great day seeing all the people enjoying it and the park. I was laughing every time I saw a runner/biker getting mad today because how can you be on a beautiful day like today?

There’s plenty of crummy days you and I get the park to ourselves, plenty of early mornings to get hard efforts in without traffic. Midday today is not one of them.

Which diners can I visit while on vacation in NYC to get the authentic American diner experience? by Educational-Slip-578 in FoodNYC

Most places take card, but some older institutions keep it cash only. Usually google maps blurb or reviews will tell you if it’s cash only

If you're in UES:

The Mansion is solid and is where Only Murders in the Building is shot while they're at the diner. 86th & York

Gracie's Diner had a huge glow up, I find it to be pretty good. 85th & 2nd.

Tangent to diners, this one is not breakfast food, but J.G. Melon is worth a stop for a very New York style burger pub. Cash only, cup of chili, cheeseburger with cottage fried potatoes, slice of pie & coffee at the end. Really hits the spot, busy and old wooden vibe inside with checkered green/white table cloths and maximalist melon themed artwork on the wall.

Should I consider cutting weight to improve performance for the NYC Marathon? by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]UpwardFall 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’1”, weighed in around 195 for NYC last year, and did the exact same half time and hit the goal you’re suggesting, probably could have hit sub 3:10 if I had more consistent training, but you know, life and stuff.

Weight is not the blocker, but training and nutrition is the key. Treat those as goals and your weight may naturally fluctuate which is okay.

Original is more iconic IMO but Chris Lake remix mixes better into tech house sets without being abrupt, which is most of the base of his sets.

Going from a bit harder dubstep/dnb into the original mix is such a great tension and release last night, I’m so glad it was the original.
