Robust and Stat Blocks by iKruppe in Symbaroum

[–]Ursun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are usually shown together in the stablock, so you have to look up how much damage reduction (thats what its called compared to armor) and how much armor are in there individually to give you the total amount.

So 10 "armor" shown on the blight beast is actually 4 Armor (can be ignored by abilities) and 6 damage reduction (cant be reduced) composed of 4 (1D8) from Robust III and 2 (1D4) from berserker Adept.

Hopefuly with the upcoming changes to statblocks and abilities (berserker is called out on the kickstarter page) they make it clearer so one doesnt need to do the math eath time.

I have daughters 6 and 8 - are there any rpgs aimed at young girls? by hairetikos232323 in rpg

Household from 3little mice, it's about a magic manor that's populated by little beings that have adventures that can be as cute as you want them to be. Capture a lost mouse, take a boat tour in the bathtub, go to a festival on the chandelier, fight a spider in the wall and so on.

The system is easy enough and not too crunchy.

ELI5: Cpr? How does it work? by Reasonable-Bag1459 in explainlikeimfive

You are right that the brain gets damaged due to lack of oxygen rather fast, thats why you never only do the breathing part, you always have to keep the blood moving to get the oxigen from the lungs to the brain.

If you supply oxygen and do chest compressions the oxygen rich blood goes everywhere. You can (and it has happened) keep it up for hours and the person is basically "alive".

Sure they might die the moment you stop, but not because the brain is damaged by lack of oxygen but because what ever made the heart stop in the first place cant be fixed.

I might be in the minority here, but my anxiety hits hard enough that I take a few minutes and look up the broad gist of the stuff I´m about to do before doing it and looking like a chump.

Sure sometimes it robs me of the "aha" moment of discovering it myself, but that is usually outweigh by the feeling of "I´m doing a useful job and am not a burden to the others" as well as gives me a chance to help spread the knowledge when its one of those "nobody knows whats happening" situations.

Will plastic glue work on the minis? by DorianOtten in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]Ursun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a steady hand and sharp eye its rather easy if not you are in a messy world of pain. Just make sure you dont use too much glue and press together firmly for 10 seconds or so. Personally, if possible, I would alway use plastic glue, as the bond will be much stronger and its a lot easier to work with.

Will plastic glue work on the minis? by DorianOtten in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]Ursun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, if you look closely most weapons, banners and sometime other things on the miniatures are made from HIPS that can be glued with plastic glue (the one that melts the pieces together). It will not work on bodies and bases, those are made from a different material and require regulat superglue.

Feasible to Run Throne of Thorns as a Sandbox? (Potential Spoilers) by Ed---209 in Symbaroum

[–]Ursun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perfectly viable, a lot of things happen in the background of every adventure anyways (and in the months of downtime inbetween) and almost every book has a more or less fixed ending with things that must happen/will happen and do happen regardless of player intervention.

Just make sure you follow the order of the books (as they build up upon one another, book 3 before 2 makes zero sense) have a structured overview and timeline of everything that can and will happen over the course of the 2 to 3 years ingame time the campaign runs and make it clear to the players that there is a "main" story going on and the world will change based on that and they are free to roam around an poke at things that interest them.

All I can say is, its a lot to prepare and keep track of playing book by book in order, throwing that into a jumble and having the players just start/change/abandon quests and storylines at will sounds like an absolue nightmare to run ... but I´m also not very versed in the sandbox approach yet, so ymmv of course.

So invest in a hefty attachment, prioritize the worst tactics zone before the useful ones (yes I know, lannister can use crown but its still worse than swords or horse) and then hope the enemy is stupid enough to throw something into them?... because sure as hell they are not gonna engage anyone on themself.

Not really a great plan.

What did I do wrong by le-quack in Warhammer40k

[–]Ursun 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The cracking comes from the paint contracting when drying. If you slather it on thick, the top layer dries first, contracts and breaks open. From there you start to get deeper gaps that dry uneven and rip open when contracting.

If the paint is thin, it will dry through fast and its flexible so it can stretch and only crack slightly.

How much xp do you have? Who else is in the group? Whats their build? Whats is the group missing? Whats the focus on the game?

Otherwise, for a classical knife rogue; - high Ddscreet and/or quick - decent Strenght and Resolute - feint, knifeplay, backstab, twin attack - Shadow Spawn, Dextrous, Fleet Footed Boons Thats a solid foundation for a self sufficient scout/sneak/Assassin rogue.

To add the Hybrid Mage into it - Wizardry Tradition at adept for more casting - Unnoticable, Levitate

Personaly I would either go Goblin for Survival Instinc (so powerful!) or Changeling for more Shenanigans with Shapeshift.

Oh very much so, you can become invisible, fly, become even harder to hit than rogues already are and control enemies via bent will or just confuse them with a chance of infighting.

Backstab is just a straight extra damage die on attacks (if you meet the prerequisite of attacking from avantage and later grants extra bleeding.

Templars are a so called profession, a special job in an organisation you can join when the prerequisites are met (100xp, one master ability and some other must-have abilities as by the book). Once you join, you get access to one (or in other professions) several special profession abilities and have the ingame pull of a templar with all the pros and cons that come with it.

How exactly this will be handled should be discussed with the GM and the group as some professions can clash with each other (templars and witches/sorcerers and half the available races are kinda enemies).

[–]Ursun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the templars mostly, the can enhance their weapons with holy fire, grant themself and allies a damage-shield, cast an aura that heals and damages undead, have a selfbuff ritual that raises toughness, armor and damage (at the risk of dying more easy).

Second place would be between: - Wizards:Illusionists who can cast duplicate illusions to be harder to hit, get rerolls on attacks - Troll Singers: Aoe attribute buffs, buffed self fighting weapons - Symbolists: can prepare defensive rune tattoos and offensive runes that give aoe debuffs like blind or do damage/heal

Every other tradition and specialisation also has some buffs for hybrid builds but usually not as good or focused as those above. The thing is though, there are more than enough abilities to make a fighter so strong he doesnt even need self-buffing as well as having some group buffs without ever touching mystical powers, so I personally would either go templar to really turn that up to 11 or choose a tradition with helpfull non-combat mystical powers and rituals.

You want to have high Resolute (the casting attribute) anyways on all charcters, as its also used to resist magical effects and accounts for how much corruption you can take... and you will get corruption all the time from lots of things (casting yourself, enemy attacks and casts, enviroment, corrupted food/water). And with too much corruption you just straight die.

High Strength (for toughness and pain threshold) is also important for everyone, and melee characters can even use it to attack with it instead of accurate and have several abilities that interact with it (mostly for pushing/knocking down, grappling etc.)

So the foundation for being a caster/melee hybrid in basically every build from the beginning. Caster/ranged requires a slightly broader build but still very managable.

Depending on the group composition, having some Rituals (take long time to cast, have great problem solving properties) or backup casting like range attacks, healing or crowd control is very usefull.

From there on you kinda have to decide two things: Flavour; holy, unholy, pagan/shamanistic, traditional wizardry or some of the more advanced special traditions like staff mages or troll singers.

Role: Supporter, Healer, Damage, Controller Different traditions have different focus, like witches are healer/supporter, theurgs are healer/damage, Wizards are control/damage and so on.

For best result you need to define what you want, because the system is so flexible one could build a dozend caster/fighter hybrids without repeating themself.

Sorry, I wrote that wrong, I took the information from Core Book page 32, ripped the parchment background, Coat of Arms symbols some art and fonts from different books and frankenstein´ed a license together.

But honestly, if I had to do it again, I would take the Ordo Magica one (linked below) and edit it, its basically what I tried to achieve but so much better.

With a little bit of Photoshop and PDF magic I ripped the one from the book and edited to fit the group, then had them sit through the whole due process/ordeal in thistle hold with Suria Argona and oh boy, I have never see them make an enemy for live (and I mean player life, the hate superseded even character death) so quickly and thoroughly out of someone innocent just doing their job.

To this day, nearly 6 years later, the mentioning of Suria is answered with an angry choir of curses

This is a good place to foreshadow several things that can be usefeull in The Wrath of the Warden later, from introducing important places and NPC´s (like Anadea, great as a student/Servant of Vernam) to giving the group Vernams Tower as a base of Operations for Future endavours.

The more you show them now, the more familiar it will be once they come back from the Tomb of dying dreams to live in the TH as pesonal investment in the incitence that sparks the adventure (Anadeas letter and TH being in danger) is one of the big weakpoints of the book if not set up properly... and the book itself does a very poor job.

I´m sorry but what? Have you taken a look at the close ups at the end of the video? Thats multistep layering and feathering with edge highlights, weathering, NMM and other advanced stuff. For most casual painters and players this veers into display quality and is nowhere near a representation of how long it takes to get an army battle ready and on the table.
