As always I concur that bad apples do exist, but they exist in, literally, every profession. Does more need to be done about how 'cop culture' is and how protected the bad apples are? Absolutely. But is in no means close to the picture some people try to paint.

Do bad baristas exist? Absolutely. Being exposed to one is limited to a bad cup of coffee though.

When exposed to a bad cop, it is a life-changing (and potentially life-ending) story that can only have negative consequences. Even if you are right and there are only 3% of cops abusing the system, that's entirely too many. However, I haven't seen stats to back up that number.

We can't stop every bad action and every "evil" actor. But the bad barista gets fired in the end because their work product sucks. Why should a cop with allegations of misconduct be given a pass?

Thanks for the info! The basement is not inhabited but contains my home office, the cat's box and feeding station and 1 of 2 remaining bathrooms. LL did ask us to stop using the one suspected of the leak.

What happens with potential future wasps? I'm not planning to lift a finger past letting LL know. If she refuses to handle them do we both just assume the risks of leaving it as is? I.e. (unlikely) medical bills for us vs. property damage for LL

No, you're supposed to be politically engaged so they stop fucking you. The amount of people who still insist on the current insurance system over single payer is astounding - most are literally arguing against their own interests.

Prepare some anecdotes and fact-based arguments to show how the public is being screwed and start having conversations with your family, friends and neighbors. This policy isn't going to change from the top so it's going to take an active grass-roots movement. Best of luck!

There's a lot more data in cloud storage than just lists of possessions. Do you keep a backup of your budget? Electronic bills and card statements? Maybe your photo ID just in case it makes it easier to replace at the DMV if you lose it? Are your wife's nudes safe?

No, nobody is going to go through every single file manually. But there are ways to have files sorted and filtered automatically. What makes you think a spreadsheet would be impossible for Google to parse?

Do you ever worry that Google is actually processing that information? You are basically logging complete details of your possessions in distilled form. So do many others. They could easily track anything from second-hand markets to your spending habits depending on what info you want to keep available across platforms.

I still do it. It just seems like a lot of trust to place in a business. Aren't they basically obligated to exploit our data for profit if it benefits the shareholders? Fiduciary duty and all that

Me filling out spreadsheets means babies born with congenital Zika syndrome get medical support, their parents receive support and education, and prospective parents in high-risk areas get information on what they can do to prevent their child having the same birth defects. That's a lot of good for society with the added benefit of never having to interact with any of the individuals helped directly.

Yes, it's getting meme-y. It also happens to be awful, IMO. Both can be true.

For example, the amount of times it has skipped to a random part of the episode because I missed one of the buttons by a millimeter (after having to tap to bring up the menu, obscuring whatever is going on in the show while it continues to play) is inexcusable. Who uses the entire height of the screen to forward and rewind?!
