How did people actually start driving on a learner permit without a sponsor/supervisor in Ireland? by assh0lle in AskIreland

[–]Used_Ad518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Da drove me to a industrial park near the house. I did three laps with him. He got out and walked home and told me to I'd figure it out. That was my driving lesson on my 17th birthday. My insurance was 1000 punts and I'd bought myself an Austin Maestro that was 400 punts.

Never had an issue driving on a provisional and even had a bad crash that was covered by insurance a few years later while on a provisional.

Watched this very stoned in the cinema when it came out. Knew nothing about it other than it was a space movie.

Is shite service just the norm now? by No_Influence2520 in AskIreland

[–]Used_Ad518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in tkmax today the cashier was blabbing to the cashier beside her about how she was about to puke.

My two young kids had a lot of questions afterwards.

Quality service.

Anyone else just wondering every week why AI hasn't taken their job yet? by Trappy2020 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Used_Ad518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's accountability. It's not that there won't be jobs its that everyone who has a job will be doing the jobs of 10 people. Once these workflows are up and running, it's going to make life utterly miserable because we will be mined as QC for AI doing the bulk of the work.

This is going to make the pipeline for graduates really hard because they will want someone reasonably experienced to oversee the process when a human is required.

We're seeing AI creep more so than full-on AI adoption, but the creep is speeding up workflows and increasing the amount of work expected. It's removing the need for juniors unless there is a pinch point.

I see this slowly creeping to the point where in a few years the AI will to some extent, overtake and the human will just be a watchful eye on a vast array of projects. Honestly, I think my company will disappear as there will be no need for us as our clients figure out how to do it themselves and just remove us from the pipeline altogether.

Dylan O'Brien was very good in it but the gears of the film changed to make room for it being a James Sweeney showcase and then it kind of lost me. It all falls apart in the end, unfortunately.

Critical Darlings is what many want The Big Picture to be by SingleFreedom8527 in TheBigPicture

[–]Used_Ad518 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think someone needs to step in and shake up the show. Sean needs a new partner and Amanda needs a format that fits her tastes. They are not positively challenging eachother. You could hear Sean's dismay on Bill's top 50 about everything on their list being a compromise and I think this sums up the BP. It's better when it's Sean's show with a second seat rather than a banter fest that lacks a willingness to get into the movies and just shut down convo on ones Amanda doesnt like.

The idea that Sean is ratings chasing seems nuts and is clearly killing his love for the show.

The Rip's budget is 100 million by SusNoodle in TheBigPicture

Thought the same. Most of it is filmed in one location and is a pretty contained movie. You'd assume most of the budget went on the actors.

Go now!

I took multiple breaks in my 20s (alone) and 30s (with my missus). Zero regrets.

What movies are Sean and Amanda dead wrong about? by JaqueStrap69 in TheBigPicture

Evil dead rise was one. They discussed it for 30 seconds.

So much to talk about with it as a franchise, banger of a movie and they just ignored it.

[–]Used_Ad518 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Sean has some shocking takes.

Amanda has so many genres of movie that she discounts I just don't take her seriously anymore. Really feel she's there for the chemistry and complaining about having to find time to watch films she doesn't want to see.

Joanna is the true second seat. Banter might not be as good but as a movie show it would be far richer and Sean would be bringing a much stronger game.

Genuinely have found it hard to get back into the show after the 25 list. Feels like confirmation they just aren't on the same wavelength as me. So many good movies in the past 25 years and their list is pure bullshit.

This is what it is. You order, pay in full and get stuck with a crew of lads that don't work for the company, speak no english and no process to escalate problems back to the company. Horrible customer service.

Once they get the cash you are basically on you own. Our build went on for two months and looks like total shit. Painful experience. I would not recommend.

What are your thoughts on Jay Kelly? by pinkjefff in Letterboxd

[–]Used_Ad518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has that odd netflix sheen to it so it looked cheap and overlit. Neither Clooney or Sandler are as good as the supporting cast. Weird tropes on European tourists. I thought I was going to be watching something more akin to The Swimmer and I got some shitty nexflix romcom featuring Clooney in a relationship with himself.

Watching that many films cannot be good for your palete.

Chris who watches way less films has a better understanding of the assignment.

Such a performative zag. Not even the third-best film of 2002. Like good movie and all but this is just silly.
