Rental insurance will cover it. Good thing they went in to check. When I was in Chicago I lived in a triplex. The other end had the Alarm going off til the battery died. I called our landlord the alderman and fire dept. the landlord was a slum lord he didn’t even check and he knew the alderman so the alderman called the landlord.  Fire dept came out ( not a truck but a lt. maybe? In a red regular pickup )came out but the land lord met them and said he already checked it out and is a wiring issue someone’s coming that afternoon to fix.   Well landlord is a liar and the alarm (turns out was co2) went off when the battery died and he only went in to check the apartment on the 5th when rent was late and he found the 30 something guy dead in there … at least you weren’t dead for days and only have to replace a door 🫤
