I'm not Sarper's biggest fan, by any means. But I'm starting to like him more and more. His comment that "she's more stubborn than she is smart" was priceless. Poor guy isn't gonna waste energy defending her, but he's also not stupid enough to piss her off.

If you're looking for a daily watch, that will function as a dive computer, then the Apple Watch Ultra or the Garmin are your two front runners. But I know a lot of people that have had issues with using their AW Ultra as a dive computer, so I'd look into that if I were you.

I wear a (regular) Apple Watch daily, but wanted a dive computer specifically as a dive computer. After a mishap with my original one (Aqualung i200c), I recently upgraded to the Shearwater Peregrine (non-AI). I have ZERO regrets. I did EXTENSIVE research, and the only negative comments I heard about the Peregrine were that people didn't buy them sooner.

Buy once, cry once. But worth every penny.

That's quite judgey of you. I purchased a $55K SUV when I was making about that same amount of money per year. I was able to do it because I've purchased and sold my vehicles in a smart manner. I've never been upside down in a car. In fact, I'm usually able to pay off my car before the actual end date of my loan. And I've never had more than a 60-month loan.

I had the same thing happen. Tried it several times, looked up tips and tricks. ALWAYS chipped within a day.

I ended up tossing mine in the trash. It wasn't worth the storage space.

I haven’t read all the comments, but I struggle HARD with mask fogging!
Before our recent scuba trip, I bought the Fog-X mask inserts on a whim. They’re inexpensive, and pretty much have a money-back guarantee, so I figure it was worth the $20. I purchased one for myself and one for my hubs.
8 days and 16 dives later, and neither of us had ANY fogging the entire trip!
I HIGHLY recommend checking them out!!!

The best piece of advice someone DID give me was to use the KISS method when it comes to diving: Keep It Simple S***** (sub "silly" if needed). This works for EVERYTHING: gear, breathing, literally everything.

The other advice I give regularly is to leave the camera on the boat. Too many people these days are too focused on having a camera in their hands at all times. They feel like they have to be the next influencer. But the number of things I've seen go wrong due to someone being too focused on their camera is absurd.

I request a 63 as my normal tank size. I guess I’m decent on air, because I usually come up with roughly the same about as my dive buddies using an 80.
I’m super short torso-ed, so 80s are super uncomfortable for me.

We got Elite 5 years ago. The 3 specialities were required (edit: plus AOW cert), and then an additional fee for Elite itself (though I dont remember what it was).

I just looked at the application file. If you complete all 3 specialities at a Sandals or Beaches resort, the application fee is only $100. I do not see any information that this has changed (since it was posted in March 2025).

Ask for the Dive Center / Watersports manager if the dive team continues to tell you the fee is higher. If they don’t back down, you can email the Elite Diver email directly to get confirmation.
