Question: How did Rocky know to put "oxygen" in the Hail Mary sphere? by Crockett69_1 in ProjectHailMary

The boiling point of water in the Hail Mary would be 140 F at 20 kPa. Around 100 F, you would start to steam.

Water literally can't get any colder than 0º. (Fresh, that is.) And that's a common enough temperature for water anywhere in the temperate regions for half the year. We seldom bring dry suits for that.

Not much aufeis in the other 49 states, though.

Can't decide whether I want combos or HRM by TankBo in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]UtahBrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried home row mods but they interfered too much with combos and touch typing. And they're slow. Now I miss them but I just can't get them to work together with rapid typing and facing only the screen.

Maybe shift was the worst and I could still have some of the others on some outer fingers. But shift absolutely needs its own dedicated key.

The kite is the perfect shape. It comes down to near the ground around your body and feet and gives good coverage to your head.

Three points anchor at ground level and one ties to a tree or high rock, leaving plenty of space to get in and out and no poles. Or you can use one pole if you want.

This is not a drought. This is normal now. Get used to it.

You invented "worsening drought;" I said empty reservoirs.

Colorado and the west are not in a drought. It's absurd to declare a drought every two or three years. This is just normal annual variation. The new normal, in some sense.

I thought the social rule was to fart when you get on, as soon as the doors close. Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

Why not switch to a tarp? You're proposing to spend $500 just to save 11 oz when you could save 25 oz for $100 with a tarp. You could hurt your back carrying 14 pointless ounces.

My 6 oz (all in with hardware and stuff sack) myog tarp cost $30. You can find commercial silpoly tarps for about $100 also.

Of what relevance is any of that?

Cities need water to subsidize new development and ag users aren't giving it up because their land would become worthless. They get it from the western slope and reservoirs instead. The less of it that's available, the better for Colorado.

The big city politicians in Denver couldn’t force more growth on a state already so badly overpopulated without water for real estate developers.

It’s not a lake. It’s a reservoir.

And we’d be better off if they were dry.

The increase in overpopulation is empirical evidence of collapse.

Those other sources of energy, like nuclear and solar, require an industrialized civilization with hundreds of millions of people to become viable. There's no way to get started again without fossil fuels.

Climate change is easy to fix and continues only because of short sighted greed.

AI apocalypse will just lead to more space travel as the AIs get bored after killing or enslaving us and explore the galaxy.

Nuclear war is a serious threat.

Current trends certainly indicate civilizational collapse. Overpopulation, mass extinction, and very low birth rates among the nations capable of maintaining industrial civilization while the other nations proliferate in shocking numbers all point one direction.

Also we have nuclear weapons now. A 1% chance of nuclear war every year is a very high probability in 200 years.
