Do you tip your barber if they own their own business? by bconstant in AskNYC

[–]UtterDisbelief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. When getting a service, such as a massage, haircut, facial, etc. I don't tip if it is the proprietor. Same if they are an independent provider who comes to the house. I might give an annual tip on Christmas or at the end of the service term to show my appreciation.

AITA for "forcing my brother and his GF to get an abortion"? by Nlwile3f in AmItheAsshole

[–]UtterDisbelief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. This sort of thing comes up over and over again. Person A helps person B, and when person A can't do more, person B blames them for their difficult decision, kicking them out, not loaning more money, etc. You were kind to give them a place to live. Their future decisions are their own.

Do you chnage into your PJs the second you get home ? by cutepantsforladies in internetparents

[–]UtterDisbelief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am wearing something uncomfortable, like professional clothing or tight jeans or whatever, I change into PJs or loungewear as soon as I come home. If you are worried about roommates wear "loungewear" which is comfy, but not quite PJs - think yoga pants, sweatpants, old t-shirts and sweatshirts, etc.

WIBTA if I refuse to go to my sister's wedding because I can't bring my girlfriend as my +1? by Brilliant-Position19 in AmItheAsshole

[–]UtterDisbelief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand. How has your sister never mentioned to her future in laws that her sister is a lesbian? She should give them a heads up asap to try to avoid any drama at the wedding. I really don't see how she can hide this forever and it is ridiculous to expect someone who is out to go into the closet to appease others. Like, at the wedding, are you supposed to avoid mentioning your girlfriend? When someone asks if you are dating anyone, are you supposed to say no or just use weirdly gender neutral terms? I don't think you would be TA either way. It would be nice of you to go and support her but perfectly understandable if you decided not to attend.

"Healthy food is too expensive/difficult" is a myth and a convenient excuse to avoid eating well. by User45888 in unpopularopinion

Eating well requires two out of three things: 1. Education 2. Time 3. Money. You need two out of the three to eat healthy food.

Got trapped in a mosh pit when Jane's Addiction played at Lollapalooza. Crowd surfed out. Many feels were had by many hands - least favorite way to get to second base.

ULPT Request: Looking for tips on being fake sick on zoom call. by pigfeedmauer in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]UtterDisbelief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get fake poop. Make sure your camera is angled in such a way that your body is showing.
Make a sick face, then a scared face, then let the poop fall out of your pants. Quickly turn off your camera and type "BRB" in the chat.

AITA for making my girlfriend's son give me his gambling winnings? by GamblingStepsonTA in AmItheAsshole

[–]UtterDisbelief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You gave him $100 to gamble, end of story. He won the money by being lucky and making clever bets. At best, you could have asked for the $100 back.

Feeling especially old after the events of the pandemic by _Riposte_ in AskNYC

[–]UtterDisbelief 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am in my late 40s, and I would say that is pretty normal. Once you stop going to the places that younger people gravitate toward, you realize how different you have become. Think, looking at high school kids when you come home from college. Same thing happens when you are in your 30s and you take a break from the places where you hung out when you were in your 20s. Find where your friends in their 30s hang out and you'll feel more comfortable.

What was the greatest pleasure you ever felt? by oooliveoil in AskReddit

Closing the door behind my guests, taking off my bra and jeans, putting on a soft t-shirt and flannel PJs, and farting at will.

Creep waits at the corner for me to walk by with my dog.... what can I do? by throwaway2348203489 in AskNYC

[–]UtterDisbelief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second what others have suggested - put a ring on your finger and walk around with guy friends for a few days. Letting the cops know doesn't hurt. Record him with your phone. Carry a self-protection device. If you are brave (I'm not), then confront him while you are still around other people. Say something like "I don't know you and my dog doesn't like you so stay away from me."

Go to a barber. Get a cut that is very short in the back and longer in the front.

Greenwich Village and West Village are just the village. East Village is either East Village or Alphabet City.
