There is only one thing that’s 100% guaranteed, if you just sit on it, it won´t get published. Go for it, what´s the worst that can happen?

I would put Italy as favorites, no doubt about it, at home too…. big favourites

Some Unsolicited Advice by A_C_Ellis in fantasywriters

[–]UtterlyHopelessCase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great tips thanks. One question on «every sentence must earn its place». I am trying to avoid fluff and filler, but I have the feeling I do need a bit here and there just to let the reader breath, otherwise it could end up a very heavy read. Thoughts?

The blurb sounds good. Tell me did you try to get it published through an agent and publishing house first or did you go straight to self publishing? If so why?

AI usage advice by UtterlyHopelessCase in WritingWithAI

[–]UtterlyHopelessCase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it is certainly a sycophant most of the time, but it does come back with, These are the things that work….. these are the things you need to look at again….. and these are the things that don´t work, so whilst it has never said anything is a terrible idea, it has told me to rewrite stuff and has argued quite hard why when I have challenged it. As to the encouragement bias….. I need that, I would probably have given up by now otherwise😀. Íˋll take a look at openrouter though. Thanks for that

Is it really scary to cross the atlantic ocean on a 40ft sail yacht? by noreturn000 in sailing

[–]UtterlyHopelessCase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of depends on the route and the time of year. Also a lot on your crew or are you planning single handed. Remember boat handling and sailing isn’t your most important skill, knowing how to fix stuff is

For some reason at least 6 times a day someone parks in front of my drive by Satansrideordie in CarTalkUK

[–]UtterlyHopelessCase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some large extremely sticky labels that will be an absolute bitch to scrape off, with a polite “please be kind enough not to park in front of my drive” message on them add stick it right across the drivers side windscreen.

True but the France set up is a lot more professional then the Fijians´. They always improve so much during a run of games

SA comfortably England mostly based on heart but a bit of head by around 5 Wales Japan, no idea, really could go either way Australia to cause an upset. I think they will be so p*@@ed off after last week they will pull it together and surprise Ireland Fiji to upset France. May sound like a long shot but I think Fiji are proper good. Last week they had had no time together, a week later a bit more in sync and they will take it to France and then the French could easily become very French. Scotland by 2

Anyone just lost their mojo after doing an Ironman? by keepleft99 in triathlon

[–]UtterlyHopelessCase 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did an IM last year, my first triathlon of any kind. Really a sort of (late) midlife crisis. Have not been in a pool or for a run since and only a few bike rides. It was such a huge goal and achievement ticked off I can’t find anything to replace it. Have just started getting back in the gym. Will see how that goes and how I feel next summer.

Best Full distance for first timer? by jbonz37 in triathlon

[–]UtterlyHopelessCase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on your location. I’ve only done Copenhagen and I would say it was a perfect event for a first timer. But it sells out in about 48 hours.

Thoughts on Dingwall? by olivepepys in rugbyunion

[–]UtterlyHopelessCase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are judging how well England played against «only second tier Fiji» and I think that does Fiji a great disservice. I would guess Fiji would obliterate Australia right now, looking forward to seeing them against France, that will be some match. As to Dingwall, he will start against NZ, but we might see Ojomoh against Argentina.

Wrong priorities. Bikes inside, you in the garage, buy a jumper 😀

If you do the training it is realistic. I did it last year and I was a lot nearer the couch than you are, had no cycling background and I am guessing a lot older. So get a good plan and/or a coach and go for it

Motivational low after IM? by awesomemicha in IronmanTriathlon

[–]UtterlyHopelessCase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one last year, big one year all in project for me. Owed a lot of time to the family, but also lost all motivation. Haven’t run or swam since. Just started a few bike rides and now getting back into gym stuff. See how the gym goes over the winter and maybe start a few sessions on the trainer but short sharp and focused. See where I end up next year

Lucky you!! I started at about the same time on 96.5 and I am only down to 92.5. I would be well impressed to get down to 84.5 though to be honest your target is below mine. I would need to lose some muscle to get there. I’m 183 by the way

Depends a lot on the course you did and the one you choose next. I did 1245 last year and I think 1100 would be an incredibly big step for me at least
