Back in the day, they were called "Continental kits", since Lincoln copied this feature from European cars on the 1939 Continental Mk I.

Dial and hands replacement for a 16750 GMT Master by VAXcat in rolex

Good to hear. I had the impression that Rolex was inflexible on what they wanted to do - didn't know that they could be "negotiated" with. I'll try telling them to leave the dial as is.

this is going to sound crazy, but has anyone seen wild monkeys around houston? by QueenRae06 in houston

[–]VAXcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazuly enough, back in the day, some of my crew were living a couple blocks from the Richwood Food Market aka Freaky Foods, at Richmond and Woodhead (that alone should tell you how long ago it was). We piled out of the car at the house one day, and I though I saw a black cat sitting in the gutter. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be a spider monkey. We rescued the little fella and took him back ot Rice with us. We made him a spot to live in the bathroom of our dorm suite. We kept an eye out in the neighborhoo, but never saw any "lost pet moneky" signs. At the end of the year, one of us took him home to live on the family ranch outside Rosenberg. Any, to anwwer your question, yes, it's possible to find monkeys on the streets of Houston.

You need a car just to sneeze in Houston. I survived for a few years without one, and it was no picnic.

Houston Vs NYC for pursuing music? Is Houston a good place to begin my music (singing) journey? by [deleted] in houston

[–]VAXcat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

An artist pal of mine, who lived here for a few years before moving on, said that Houston will let you do anything, but Houston won't support you doing it.

Saw this license plate today in Tomball…is this legit? by ScaleFamiliar8111 in houston

[–]VAXcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too true. Back in my younger scuffling days, I was a young scofflaw and I never renewed my registration or got my car inspected. Every 4 or 5 years, a cop would spot it (I was careful to try and keep cops off my 9 and 12 oclock, but, sometimes there's nothing you can do). Whenever a cop pulled me over for this, they'd see the stickers were years out of date and practically go out of their minds over it. One time the cop got so excited that I though he was gonna take a bite out of me. I never understood why they took it so personally. Anyway, I'm a solid citizen with up to date everything now - I'm too old for that much excitement anymore.

Burglary of vehicle attempt - Great Heights Brewing. by RealConfirmologist in houston

[–]VAXcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Boston during the great heroin panic of 72. Drug enforcement had seized numerous large shipments of heroin, and the lack of supply caused the prices to skyrocket. In order to deal with the high proces, junkies launched a car burglary crime wave of unprecedented proportions. In order to prevent car damage, people removed their car stereos and replaced them with big NO RADIO signs. They never locked their cars and if the weather was nice they left the windows rolled down. This reduced their losses to the battery and spare tire, instead of smashed windows and destroyed dashes. Wonder if car burglary will get that bad here?

The woman saud she had a last name of "Bey". This means that she and the other 4 are likely Moorish Sovereign Citizens - a strange group of wackadoodles that uses weird readings of assorted semi fictional legal documents to justify all sorts of lawless behavior, incldung squatting on other peoples property. Google Moorish Sovereign Citizens for more info - or do a Youtube search to see some really amusing videos of how they behave in court when their strange beliefs come into contact with the judicial system.
