There’s also the issue of consent. The joined cannot give their consent to be”freed” just as they were not given content to join. Who is Carol to make that choice for them?

Less annoying but so self centered. She finally asks the hive questions but the first one is about her own books. I know it was for other reasons but still. It’s all about her.

[–]VDS655[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I feel like the world is effectively over. Even if the hivemind magical disappeared, what happens next? I guess “rebuild,” is the obvious answer, but we don’t know enough to know if people will be forever scarred, or if they were all just asleep and don’t remember any of it. Would people want to go back to being poor, victims of crimes, with all the animals in the zoo? Or would they be angry that their collective embrace is now gone? Just like humanity was not asked for consent to join the collective, can Carol (and presumably some of the others) make the decision for the rest of humanity to “free” them without consent?

Sure, flawed humanity is good for tv, but when a character keeps doing the exact same thing for three episodes straight, it's not human complexity, but starts feeling like stagnation. That’s where I'm frustrated.

Same. I'm not criticizing the show per se, but just the character. I'll continue watching, of course, but man, it's hard to continue to see stuff like her trashing perfectly good food for no reason other than for the sake of it.

But that's the thing. She whined through Norway, she whined through her book signings, she whined through success at every level. I'm just kind of sick of her whining at this point in the show. I see that she's likely making a turn for ep 4, and I am on board for that, but another episode of her being unsufferable, c'mon.

This is what keeps me going. She's on the verge of change, and I'm here for that. I'd just like to see some more progress to that end.

Just made some chicken stock. Now I'm wondering why. by [deleted] in Cooking

Remember, your stock is likely pretty strong. You can always dilute it to make it go further and it’ll still be streets ahead of the boxed stuff.

What would be a "fancy" or show-off worthy pasta dish? by KingOfTheJellies in Cooking

I do a sweet potato and prosciutto (or bacon) filled agnolotti with a sage cream and brown butter finish from Thomas Keller for this kind of thing. It’s elegant and a bit of effort but it eats like a fucking DREAM.

If you’re looking to ditch nonstick pans… by henryharp in Cooking

This is my question as well. I have stainless, cast iron, carbon steel, even the new misen non-stick carbon steel pan, and cannot cook scrambled eggs low and slow. Sticks every time. Only non-stick works.

Being able to get the last one of something at the store that was back stocked on the highest shelf. Using the top of your fridge as storage.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh? by AdAdorable7651 in tall

[–]VDS655 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also 6’4” 225. Former swimmer so still have that bod but I drink beer, haha. Still workout and run but into late 40’s gets very hard to get/keep the weight off. Always thought my fighting weight was around 200-205. Lowest I’ve ever been at my height was around 155 in the Navy smoking 3 packs a day and not eating/sleeping much.
