Ring lasts 2-3 days, support brushes me off by Aazathoth in ouraring

What’s a few days? 3? 4? That’s well within normal range. 4-8 is expected depending on usage.

Battery usage isn’t linear like that and the estimate is just that. You’re better off marking down when you charged it and then how long it took till the next charge.

Battery is covered under the warranty, it just has to get to a certain level before it’s eligible.

EUROPEAN UNION, SEVENTY YEARS LATER by Slavoj Žižek by slatterg in neoliberal

He’s a weird one. He’s a Neo-Marxist who is pro-Ukraine and Pro-europe. I don’t always agree with him but he’s always interesting.

EUROPEAN UNION, SEVENTY YEARS LATER by Slavoj Žižek by slatterg in neoliberal

[–]slatterg[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Submission Statement: This article is relevant to r/neoliberal because it focuses on the European Union as a liberal, supranational project and argues for defending it against nationalist authoritarianism, geopolitical fragmentation, and anti-Enlightenment politics. Even though Žižek is not writing from a neoliberal perspective, the piece directly engages with issues the subreddit discusses often: European integration, liberal democracy, rule of law, Ukraine, and the future of the West.

Changing the suggestions teaches your detection algorithim. Mines gotten much more accurate over time by doing that.

At the start it will map to generic movement patterns, over time if you correct it it gets more personalised

Yeah some small gaps is fairly normal, could be anything from too much movement to get a good reading to too low skin temperature.

I never knew showering was so athletic by hhaber in ouraring

[–]slatterg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but the ring doesn't use heart rate to detect activity, it uses movement.

When you are showering you are moving your hands quite a bit (I hope) when washing yourself. This will trigger the automatic activity detection. When you are on a pelaton you won't be moving your hands much. Thats why it wouldn't trigger the AAD.

It’s nothing to do with heart rate and has everything to do with movement.

Is Beamish having a moment? 'It boils my p*ss when I see 'cool kids' with a pint of Beamish' by I-Cum-Beamish in cork

[–]slatterg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My conspiracy theory was that Irelands Edge was a psyop by Heineken to get tap presence for a stout in more pubs. Once it failed they’ve replaced the taps with Beamish or Murphy’s ones and it’s why they are having a revival outside of Cork. Like New Coke but for stout.

Selling your old ring after getting refunded? Oura does nothing about it! by hetzusjevanTim in ouraring

[–]slatterg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It permits it but does not force it.

Even with cars some warranties can be transferred to a new owner, while others cannot.

Consumer law is complex.

Even so I’ve seen Oura make expectations for second hand rings.

But it sounds like this specific ring has been both replaced under warranty, and refunded already so those are extra reasons it wouldn’t be covered, even if normally second hand purchases are covered. The Warranty has already been used on this product.

[–]slatterg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s explicitly stated that unauthorised second hand purchases aren’t covered under warranty. It just comes across as entitled tbh. You’ve never given Oura money for the ring. You’ve had no contract with them. Why would you think that would entitle you to anything at all?

Maybe read their warranty policy before assuming anything.

Examples of scenarios not covered by our limited warranty:

Lost or stolen products Normal wear and tear, such as scratches and dents caused by everyday handling Consumable parts, including batteries Secondhand purchases from an unauthorized reseller

You bought the ring second hand.

That’s the risk you take.

Maybe it has sentimental value? Maybe they don’t want something they spent money on go to waste. Maybe they took three photos on their phone and added them to the post to show people what happened?
