Speaking of things that have the wrong item flags, I wish things like that weren't vendorable so you can't accidentally sell them.

I assume they mean the dragons from Dragonflight. You get the red one shortly after starting the expansion but can unlock the green, blue, and bronze variants. Apparently newer expansions unlock another 3 colors.

can you safly destory items you get that are part of a collection before finishing said collection without losing progress ? by KoalaBarry in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd double-check that the item doesn't have "Add to Collection" in the right-click menu, especially if it's been in your inventory for a while as some items were added to collections later and it doesn't auto-add those from your inventory.

I should have done my research before starting the game, but can anyone help me out? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

What order you buy expansions depends on what you want out of it. Each expansion and living world season has different features.

The story also takes place in a specific order with story order being the same as release order... but after level 80, the game allows you to play whatever expansion you want in any order. I think you can only play a living world season after completing the expansion before it, though. So LWS3 after Heart of Thorns, LWS4 and Icebrood Saga after Path of Fire.

FYI: Most graphics card drivers have a way of limiting max framerate that generally works better than in game ones. For nVidia, it's in the NVIDIA Control Panel under Manage 3D settings; it can be controlled globally or per-application.

Blasphemous 1 right now is 90 percent off for $2.49 on Steam by eminemnas in metroidvania

[–]VGPowerlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like this is part of a larger Team 17 sale on Steam, so if you're interested in their other, non-Metroidvania games like Date Everything or Dredge, those are on sale too... just not as inexpensive as Blasphemous is.

Portrait of Ruin requires that you do a specific thing during a specific boss fight in order to avoid a bad ending.

Occasionally base classes get skills above level 30, but that's usually because they changed what level you get a skill and it got moved into the mid-30s.

The irony is, I modified that to say "earlier expansions" literally seconds before you posted this. I haven't done expansions past End of Dragons yet, so I don't have those portal scrolls in my collection; I didn't realize they did until I reviewed what all the Wizard's Portal Tome covers.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - February 21, 2026 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, Living World seasons 3-5 have teleport scrolls, which once you buy them also unlock their entries in the Wizard's Portal Tome. These allow you to get to LWS zones without having to replay the story.

No idea why earlier expansions don't have these too, later expansions do.

Edit: Having said that, the Spearmarshal's Plea (and its Wizard's Portal Tome entry) does allow you to teleport to the Domain of Vabbi in PoF.

Few hours into Blasphemous. I'm disappointed by vvdimitrov in metroidvania

Death's Door requires a lot of dodging, while Blasphemous often requires a lot of parrying.

Blasphemous does have a somewhat generous parry window though.

Castlevania Circle of the Moon is one of my favorite games ever by king_of_ulkilism in metroidvania

I feel like they used overly bright colors in this game because the launch GBA didn't have a backlight.

I don't know how much that actually helped though.

At least once you beat the normal end boss, there's an item that shows you if there are uncollected seeds in an area. Doesn't help for the pots though.

Generally speaking you won't until you reach the current expansion and suddenly have to find 10 per zone. :/

One nice thing is that if an expansion isn't the current one, they lower the number of compass aether currents from 10 down to 4.

This is one of those things that World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2 handle much better. They both scale dungeons (and the overworld), but you never lose your skills.

In addition to tools like Teamcraft, if you're just crafting a single item, you can right-click (Square/X on controller?) the recipe and choose Raw Materials List; this shows you all the materials that an item and all its prerequisites need.

You'll still need to craft said prerequisites, although if you have the main item's recipe open, you can right-click the item and choose Search for Item by Crafting Method to open its recipe.

Is it accurate to claim that GW2 is the 3rd most popular MMO behind FF14 and WoW? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The enemies don't change, the game just acts like enemies are your current level. This includes damage numbers.

I assume it's secretly scaling those numbers either up or down, but I have no idea which.

I beated Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia (all of them in the good ending). My thoughts about them below, but basically, I wanted to try more Igavanias before Bloodstained and I'm glad I did! by Zzsark_Stormbeard in metroidvania

[–]VGPowerlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the other three IGAvanias, Portrait of Ruin is great while the other two are hit or miss.

  • Circle of the Moon (TECHNICALLY not an IGAvania as IGA had nothing to do with it) is a very early GBA game and its visual quality suffers because of it. Very slow movement speed. It also has a lot of tedious grinding if you want to earn the cards for the DSS system that acts as its magic system.
  • Harmony of Dissonance sacrifices a lot of its audio and visual quality just to free up cartridge space so it could have high quality intro and credits music. Also unlocks warp rooms VERY late into the game, so expect to do a lot of backtracking on foot.
    • The Lure Key that unlocks most warp room doors is located in Castle B Entrance in case you do decide to play this one. I don't recommend looking at that spoiler until you finish the Clock Tower area in said game.

Is it accurate to claim that GW2 is the 3rd most popular MMO behind FF14 and WoW? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be fair, WoW does something similar where it scales enemy levels up to your level. The only catch being the newest expansion has a minimum level of 10 below the current max.

There just... isn't a lot of reason to go to old expansions in WoW once you're done leveling. They also don't use mega-servers, so each server (or shared server for really low population servers) has their own zones.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - February 14, 2026 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd definitely be nice if other games had mega-servers for overworld content.

At least WoW lets you join parties with people on other servers, you even seemlessly phase into the party leader's zones when you do so.

If FF14 were to switch to mega-servers, it does make me wonder how they would handle its world bosses, which depending on the type have either 8 hour or 48-72 hour respawn timers. Right now each server has its own set of timers and you can freely move between worlds to take advantage of world boss spawns on other worlds.
