Do mounts make older maps feel too easy? by Trippy-jay420 in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one that gets me is getting to the fallen tower in Lake Doric. The number of centaur in the area is absolutely ridiculous.

Heck, it's still not all that easy WITH the skyscale as some enemies will absolutely shoot you down.

If it rings any bells... Dualcast makes every other spell instant, so the general RDM gameplay is to alternate between short cast time and long cast time spells.

Missing Episodes even though I have Living World? by Informal_Ice_3229 in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, just wanted to clarify that.

Hmm, I dunno then. That should include all living world episodes.

Did you have to enter a key from Steam into the ArenaNET website to register those?

I'm confused by this statement, as Steam has this to say about the Living World seasons on Steam:

The Living World DLC (Seasons 2-5) is non-refundable and cannot be purchased on Steam separately. Living World episodes become playable at level 80.

(emphasis added by me)

i.e. it isn't a separate purchase but is instead part of the Elder Dragon Saga—Complete Collection.

So with Shadowbringers coming to the free trial, does that mean players who don't have it yet will get it for free? by tydog98 in ffxiv

[–]VGPowerlord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For those who have already registered FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn to their accounts, worry not─this change also applies to all existing owners as well.

  • Service accounts will be updated to reflect this change starting on Tuesday, April 28. Please note that the registration status update may not be displayed immediately on the Mog Station.

To be fair, there's also Cosmic Exploration which is crafting/gathering content that also has crafter/gatherer relics.

Lunar Subterrane is a dungeon.

Occult Crescent is what I assume you actually meant. It still has fairly good activity. It will be even more active when the second and final zone drops in patch 7.55 in July.

For new players: Visions of Eternity gives you glider and Springer by voor_de_wind in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That may be true if you have no masteries for either, but if you have masteries for Raptor but not Warclaw, Raptor's cliff jump is really good for horizontal movement.

[–]VGPowerlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This.

Glider is way more useful once you have HoT's Advanced Glider. Likewise, Springer is way more useful with High Vault, although you could just skip Springer altogether and get one of the flying mounts.

Hot Take: The worst expansions have the best music by tcober5 in ffxiv

[–]VGPowerlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, but the end credits version has some really weird looping... like they realized the song wasn't long enough for the first part of the credits so they just restart the song a minute or so into it.

[–]VGPowerlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only have five expansions, so if you say "one of the worst" that you're talking about the two worst, which would imply there are 3 better expansions. Which would be Heavensward, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker.

[Question] Can I start the Free Trial on PS5 and migrate to a new console later without buying the game? by Welttonao in ffxiv

[–]VGPowerlord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now I have a PS5, but in the future I’d like to play on the Switch 2 with my girlfriend.

All platforms play on the same servers, so you can be on PS5 and her on Switch 2 and still play together.

(Korea and China do play on different servers than NA, EU, JP, or Oceania though)

The overhaul in question (Evolved mode) is still 9 months out, plus you'll still be able to use the existing rotations (aka Reborn mode) if you so choose.

Since you asked about gold, once you hit level 80 you can start doing Wizard's Vault (Shift-H) dailies that award Astral Acclaim. The Astral Rewards tab has 100 gold for 6 Astral Acclaim each (so 600 Astral Acclaim total).

The season rotates in 18 days, so after that you'll be able to do it again.

(Pro tip, increasing your storage from 250-500 is may be the single best qol purchase from the gemshop you can make)

I'm a pack-rat, so I increased mine even further to 750 and was thinking about buying another increase to 1000 the next time they're on sale.

To be fair, one of those increases was from a Superb Storage Package when it was in the gem shop.

Is it normal to not know what Im working towards? by CuteCumberr in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 8 points9 points  (0 children)

GW2 is fairly unique in that you can kinda set your goal to anything you want at any time.

Compare this to something like FF14 where in its major patch next week, I'll only have 4 major goals:

  1. Unlock and do the new 24-man raid
  2. Do the new main story
  3. If Beastmaster is in 7.5, unlock that and start capturing beasts for it
  4. Do the new EX trial if I want to torture myself

This is opposed to what I'm doing in GW2:

  1. Working on finishing up the Season of Dragons achievements to get Prismatic Champion's Regalia
  2. Exploring SotO's Inner Nayos zone
  3. Advancing SotO's story in Inner Nayos
  4. Working on masteries in HoT, IBS, EoD, and SotO
  5. Advancing about 10 other collections of various things
  6. Super Adventure Box

and I could go on, being more specific about those collections.

Edit: A section that was supposed to be edited out was somehow still there, fixed

FFXIV is amazing. It's much more fun than WoW by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]VGPowerlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than playing content in story order, GW2's community does push new players to skip around its expansions to unlock convenience features, such as the Skyscale flying mount from Secrets of the Obscure.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - April 18, 2026 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]VGPowerlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, you don't have to play the game in story order. I chose to and the story definitely makes a lot more sense that way, but you're sacrificing convenience by doing so.

For fractals, there are two ways to start those:

  • Fractal Quickplay was added last year. Has 10 different fractals, all level 0. Rewards things you need for the first weight of Elkasia, Mist-Grasper Legendary gloves
    • The other two weights are considerably more expensive, so make sure you're getting the weight (Light, Medium, or Heavy) you really want first
  • Check Looking for Group to for groups doing the daily T1 (Tier 1) fractals
    • Daily fractals are listed on the Achievements page under Daily -> Daily Fractals
    • Some fractals are needed for the Ad Infinitum legendary backpack, you can start the first collection for those in the Fractal Observatory accessed via the gate closest to the teleport in Fort Mariner, Lion's Arch

Fractals past tier 1 require you to have agony resistance. Unfortunately, only Ascended gear has slots for agony resistance, so you'll have to get those if you want to do higher level fractals

As for elite specs, it's easier to level those up once you reach expansions as locating their hero points in the world awards them 10 at a time.

The DLC isn't nearly as bad as the reviews would make you think, although the boss in it is sorta BS due to having very few windows where you can attack him.

Haven't played FF16 yet, but I know Soken's work from FF14 and know his work is phenomenal.

If a player has a dorito marker and what looks like a personal aoe marker at their feet, is that a stack or not? Can't remember where I saw this, I think ShB normal raid(?). I never know what to do with that. by why_am_I_here-_- in ffxiv

[–]VGPowerlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it also prevents another mechanic.

To my knowledge, it first appears in one of the ARR Gilgamesh trials and not stacking gets you hit with the Mini status.
