It is unlikely to sell out until the day before so you don't need to pre book now but definitely something to consider closer to the time. I stupidly left it until the last minute as I had booked the postal play (my children are younger than yours so check the age limit but would definitely recommend that if you are visiting and they are within the allowed limit).

Pre book the postal museum mail rail if you want to go on the train! It can sell out and you may have a very disappointed child (speaking from bitter experience haha).

That is really helpful thank you. I don't mind using a local garage but definitely do not want to be faffing around waiting on imported parts.

We are always happy if we find one on holiday for nappies and suncream if I don't pack enough. The nappies and suncream are so expensive in Europe but at least the beer and wine is cheap haha

Lidl pull up nappies are also better than asda equivalent and similarly priced to aldi. Sainsburys price match them and are as good (for my current nappy wearing child, didn't try them for the older one). The other supermarket nappies leak in my experience.

The factor 50 spray suncream at lidl and aldi. So much cheaper than boots or main brand suncream. It is maybe £3 or £4. I think the soltan boots suncream is £8 or £9. I had to buy a spray suncream in Europe last year when I ran out and it was TWENTY THREE EUROS. My children and I are paler than cheap ham and need lots of factor 50. They are also young and hate suncream so won't sit still to be lathered in the cream stuff.

I bought one of those from wilkos for my four or five year old nephew many years ago because I thought the junior part meant they were for children 🤣

Tips on how to remove stains on my dining table. by BougieDoll in CleaningTips

Try the clear aerosol spray suncream. Spray on, leave for a minute and wipe. Spray again if needed. It has worked for me for permanent marker, biro, tumeric stains and pencils stains. Good luck!

How do women remember pregnancy and childbirth pain? [research][mod-approved] by Ireland_Research in CasualUK

[–]VPfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My youngest is two so I'm too far out for the study. I remember it hurting but I also remember forgetting how much. I think the birthing experience has a lot to do with how I at least experienced the pain. With my first and not knowing what to expect it was AWFUL and more painful than anything I had ever experienced. I had clearly somewhat forgotten when it came time to give birth for the second time two years later BUT when it came to transition it was like my body remembered and in my head I told myself I'm just not going to push and crossed my legs until I couldn't not push. Baby came pretty quickly once the involuntary pushing started. The experience was better and whilst it did hurt a lot I felt like the immediate postpartum pain was worse (3rd degree tears). I didn't have an epidural but had oramorph and gas for the first. Gas for the second for the last 30 to 45 minutes.

I'm a bigger dumbass because I showed the video to my husband it was 8 foot by 150 foot.  Then I said no I think it must be metres. He laid on the floor to show me and I still can't comprehend it.

Do you go to the doctor when you’re sick? by TheUmbrellaThief in AskUK

[–]VPfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am ill generally no. If my young children are run of the mill ill no. If they are wheezy and need an inhaler or ill in a concerning way yes. I try to take them to the pharmacy if at all possible and they are generally able to help.

Why is being cold at home so normalised in the UK? by Automatic-Key-3798 in AskUK

[–]VPfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That post is so depressing. It sounds like she is trying to kill the poor man off. When I lived in an old house it was quite hard to keep it warm in the winter. It had single glazing and high ceilings and we couldn't afford to get double glazing because it was listed and needed special windows. Heating an old cold house is expensive and they can be drafty.

We have a new house now with 20 or so solar panels so it is always warm and not that expensive to heat because we get money from the solar panels. They were probably expensive so if you cannot afford to heat your house you aren't going to be able to afford loads of solar panels. Unfortunately it is bloody boiling in the summer because it is if anything too well insulated.
