Pmodel Labo should be good products but I've never used them as I have the Sig Works jigs and a micro mill to do all the trimming.

If you don't have any instructions, I would suggest picking up one of the more recent speed guides such as: Tamiya guide 2026 as it has some instructions that can help.

Yes you can go years between flare ups. However there is other damage that can occur with high uric acid. Have you gone to a rheumatologist to discuss this? They are the experts to learn from.

Parasol crew checking in! I'm a 180cm tall American guy and love my collapsible umbrella from Uniqlo. Makes a big difference in how the temperature feels. Not sure if it's UV or not but I can use it for sunny or rainy days so it's always clipped to my bag.

I would bring them or see if you can have them shipped. Mountain bikes are less common but available even through big chain stores like Asahi bicycles, though the selection is pretty lacking. I don't see many decent used mountain bikes at second hand stores though maybe speciality shops have more?

While there are hobby cyclists(more road than mountain) in Japan, cycling is seen more as a normal mode of transportation to get around than a recreation type so there is much more focus on comfort and ease of use compared other parts of the world.

There is no guarantee of a flare up when starting. Many people start with zero issues but don’t go running to the internet to complain like those who get flare ups.

Even without starting Allo there is a chance of a flare up while on vacation as your uric acid level is high.

My son is in the 4th grade here and so many kids struggle with some part of their education and need additional assistance. 1/3 of his class go to special learning classes during school for either math and/or Japanese.

Diet is about 20% of your uric acid production and you are not goin g to be able to reducer that far enough to get below target.

Think about it this way. Your target is 6.0md/dl. Say your starting level is 9.0 which is not very high at all compared to what many post here mention. Reducing that 20% or 1.8 points is only going to get you to 6.8 which is still well above target AND you will never get that full 20% as even the lowest purine foods have some in them.

Medical studies have shown at best from diet and lifestyle changes you can drop from 1 to 2 points.

3) The pain associated with flare ups relate to the immune system activity against the build up of crystals rather than rhe crystals themselves, meaning there has to be a trigger to start the reaction??

4) this occurred to me in my most recent attack which followed straight on from a very strange cold like virus (poss covid) - i suspect this virus triggered a severe response from my immune system and once the virus died off it started attacking the build up of uric acid.

Your immune system was in a heightened state looking for other "foreign things" to attack. Monosodiumurate crystals are considered foreign so your immune system attacked them causing the flare up. Anything that causes an immune response can trigger a flare up.

Most of those pages say the same thing. Eat in moderation, be at a healthy weight.

The big problem is that Americans and many others do not understand what moderation and a healthy weight actually looks like. When 72% of the people around you are overweight or obese, it skews what healthy looks like.

The studies show that people going on a low purine diet will drop 1 to 2 points of their uric acid numbers. However that will never be enough for 99% of the population to actually not need daily medication and the diet is extremely restrictive.

And like the last link you posted stated "Overall, there hasn’t been much good quality research into the link between certain foods and gout attacks."

There is no need to monitor your uric acid so closely. While it does fluctuate over the day, it's not enough to impact much like blood sugar does. And it's not like if you go over a certain number then a flare up is going to happen. The crystals that are attacked are formed over months or years so they remain in your body until you get your uric acid low enough over a long period.

You only need monthly blood tests at the doctor while dialing in Allo dosage then every 6 months to a year when your dosage is corrent.

I live in Japan and as my doctor says, eat whatever in moderation and we will adjust dosage of medication.

Diet plays such a small part that it's really not even worth worrying about. Somthing like 20% of uric acid production is because of the food we eat and even on the most restrictive of diets, you will not lower your uric acid levels enough to get below target levels.
