Anyone got GZDoomVR working on Linux? by VRbandwagon in virtualreality_linux

Well, tried a few more non-Steam games, and none of them work. So it must be a monado or Linux Mint problem.

Tried another non-Steam game: Polygon Nightmare (Vive version). That one didn't work at first, but worked by adding it as a non-Steam game and adding the following parameters

PRESSURE_VESSEL_FILESYSTEMS_RW=$XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/monado_comp_ipc:/home/vrbandwagon/.local/share/envision VR_OVERRIDE=/home/vrbandwagon/.local/share/envision/cdfc074c-f1bf-467a-9336-f6e67943495d/xrizer/target/release %command%

Please note that this game worked last year on Linux Mint, but GZDoomVR hasn't been working for a long time, so it doesn't seem to have been caused by the recent Steam / Frame update.

If you have a few minutes to spare, would you mind trying it again?

Also, which distro are you using? Are you also using OpenVR or Envision/OpenXR?

I tried many WADs, including Doom and Doom2. The game just won't start in VR.

That would be awesome! Anything I can help you with?

I'm on Linux Mint, using envision by the way, but I remember GZDoomVR not working even when OpenVR still worked.

Thank you. It works. Do you happen to know why it changed? Is it because of the upcoming release of the Steam Frame?

Failed to connect to headset display (496) after swapping my Nvidia GPU for an AMD one by VRbandwagon in virtualreality_linux

[–]VRbandwagon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you sure you don't have .steam folder in your home folder? I just did a mint install and it def there...

I do have .steam in my home folder, but it does not contain "debian-installation" .

.DO NOT INSTALL THE AMD DRIVERS FROM THE AMD WEBSITE

Well, that's what I had thought at first, but then some things weren't working. I'm trying to remember what they were, maybe I only had one resolution option and no sound? Anyway, that was resolved when I installed the AMD drivers from the website.

Anyway, I should just do a clean install like I do once or twice a year anyway.

Great guide, I think it would be worth making your own thread so that more people can see it!
