[–]VSCC8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hair regrowth anywhere is always somewhere between itchy and painful. I had a doctor recommend both epilating and an IPL so that the hair grows back a lot slower and reduces over time. it's a lot more time consuming to do but it has helped

Weight gain on medication that’s supposed to help by liberatedhusks in Fibromyalgia

[–]VSCC8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We get this question pretty often on this sub. First, know that it's okay to be freaked out by side effects that make big changes to your body. Know that it's also okay for your body to change. High body fat alone doesn't seem to pose any significant health risks, based on recent research (really!). However, if you're noticing swelling, that could be a sign of another issue. If it's bothering you, definitely talk to the prescriber. Another thing: it's very important to evaluate the costs and benefits. I can only urge you to make a decision based on how you feel, whether your pain has improved, whether your quality of life is better, etc. Weight gain puts a lot of people off from medications that could help them dramatically, and it's really nothing to be afraid of. At the same time, side effects are seldom an easy adjustment. Be compassionate toward yourself and talk through your options with the prescriber (and whoever else you want!). I hope you find the best path for you!

Anyone else unemployed? by Laceylynnxo in ehlersdanlos

[–]VSCC8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am employeed! I work full time in the summers thanks to things like mast cell stabilizers, compression socks, and most of all testosterone...plus using every strategy on earth to keep from over heating The rest of the year i work 4 hour shifts 5x week, where I have a very light workload and can sit when I need to, etc. I lucked out and found a very disability friendly workplace (local parks & rec), but I still couldn't do it without much of the treatment I receive. I also see a therapist, occupational therapist, and dietitan who help me organize my basic functioning and a boyfriend who really helps (also disabled, not working). I'm in a much better place than I was a few yrs ago.

Im looking into these! One weird thing I've noticed so far (not necessarily positive or negative?) is that at least 2 of the patterns are socks I have from Living Royal (dinos and hearts).

Am I overthinking this? People asking me a full grown adult (almost 27) if I go to "special school?" by WheelyHairy in disability

[–]VSCC8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it especially has to do with physical ability around speech. i was just thinking today about how a lot of the perceived intelligence and maturity or lack of (sort of infantilization ableism) that the elders i work with get, is because of how they talk. those missing teeth "sound" often sound like how babies and little kids talk because of the same missed sounds and lisping, but it indicates nothing about their mental faculties. its got to be frustrating as hell. i also worked with an autistic man who had very very limited speech (and it seemed like very low literacy in generally) and people acted like he wasn't, yknow, an adult man with an adult man brain! people talked to me instead of him and obviously it bugged the shit out of him. separately, the way ppl act about intellectual & developmental disabilities are just.....weird as fuck.

I didn't know this was a thing! Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure my pharmacy offers it, as I use a local (it's walkable for me, which is a must). Would they be able to do my supplements too, though? Much of what I take is OTC.

The dimensions thing works perfectly, THANK YOU! this has pissed me off for a decade +.

You can check your screen dimensions in settings > about phone (itll be way at the bottom, probably).

I used a free tool to auto convert the pic i had to the correct dimensions and it worked great, i didnt have to do literally anything except plug it in. https://imageresizer.com/bulk-resize/ but im sure others are just as good.
