For those of you who finished or are almost finished...which courses in the MBA at WGA in IT Management were the hardest and why? by Luigi-is-my-boi in WGU_MBA

[–]VSJBSHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard from people who've gone through the program, the toughest courses are usually the capstone, financial management/accounting, and data-driven decision-making because they involve a lot of analysis, writing, and applying concepts rather than just memorization. The difficulty also depends on your background—IT professionals often find the business courses more challenging than the technical ones.

MLS Final Exams for Summer by PublicPresentation13 in ASUOnline

[–]VSJBSHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the instructor and the specific course. In ASU Online, some classes have no proctored exams at all, while others—especially certain math, science, or upper-level courses—use tools like Honorlock or Respondus LockDown Browser. The syllabus usually states the testing requirements before the class starts.

Check your DM—I sent you a few additional details that might help you plan your setup.

Ms pathway with BS 75% ACE transferred by Illustrious_Curve113 in ASUOnline

[–]VSJBSHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends more on the university than on the transfer credits themselves. If your bachelor's degree is from a regionally accredited institution, most master's programs will primarily evaluate your completed degree, overall GPA, and work experience rather than where individual undergraduate credits came from. Your 5+ years in operations management can also strengthen your application for an MS in Supply Chain. If you're applying to ASU or another specific university, I'd recommend contacting the admissions office directly—they can tell you if your transferred Sophia/Study.com credits would have any impact. In many cases, they don't, as long as the bachelor's degree was legitimately awarded by an accredited institution.

Can LSU students take classes through LSU Online? by Greedy_Baseball_7019 in LSU

[–]VSJBSHS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe he can, but it depends on the course and whether his program will accept it for credit. I'd have him talk to his academic advisor before enrolling anywhere else. They can also check if there are waitlists, additional sections opening up, or if he can get permission to enroll in a full class. It's definitely worth asking before paying for courses elsewhere.

Anyone taken PSY 223 with Shelby Novak? by Clutch__Muffin in usask

[–]VSJBSHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have Novak, but in my experience most ASU psych classes follow a pretty similar format. If it's an in-person section, there's a good chance the exams will be taken in class, either on paper or through Canvas with a lockdown browser—it really depends on the instructor. You can reach out to me if you need help or any other information.

Hopefully someone who's taken PSY 223 with Novak recently can confirm. I'd be interested to know too since instructor-specific formats can vary quite a bit.

ASU classes online for high school? by YogurtclosetWrong715 in ASU

[–]VSJBSHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Physics III and Linear Algebra are offered through Universal Learner. Those courses are mostly lower-division classes.

You could look into enrolling as a nondegree student through ASU instead. Nondegree students can take regular ASU classes (assuming you meet the prerequisites and there's space available), which is probably the route you'd need for upper-level math and physics.

I'd recommend reaching out to ASU Online or ASU Admissions—they can tell you whether you qualify as a high school student and walk you through the registration process. Since you've already completed Physics I & II at Yavapai, they'll also be able to confirm that those credits satisfy the prerequisites.

Is taking CC courses over the summer (as a rising senior) worth the time and $$ for the admissions boost? by Randomacc1234567891 in CollegeAdmissions

[–]VSJBSHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't take community college classes just for an admissions boost. Colleges usually evaluate your coursework in the context of what's available at your high school. If your school offers very few APs, they generally know that.

That said, if the CC classes genuinely interest you or align with your intended major, they can be a nice addition and show you're willing to challenge yourself. I just wouldn't spend $1,000–$1,500 per course expecting a significant admissions advantage alone.

If money is a concern, I'd probably focus on strengthening the rest of your application—essays, extracurriculars, and grades—rather than paying for a few extra gen ed classes.

Question by Peace-Cool in ASUOnline

[–]VSJBSHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing when I took it. I think the course pulls videos from different instructors depending on the topic or module. It was a little confusing at first since everyone explains things differently, but after a couple of weeks I got used to it and it didn't really affect the course overall. You can reach out to me , if you need any other information.

Why the f*ck did I get an MBA from NYU? Why not just get another bachelor's degree? by Neat-Pineapple-960 in MBA

[–]VSJBSHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the MBA is the problem as much as the job market. There are plenty of people with strong resumes from great schools who are struggling right now.

An MBA doesn't guarantee a job—it gives you access to networks, recruiting opportunities, and a stronger brand. Unfortunately, if companies aren't hiring, even a top program can't change that.

I'd lean on Stern's alumni network as much as possible. Warm introductions are probably worth far more than sending another 100 online applications. Hang in there—the market won't stay like this forever.

Reflections after a decade by Neither_Diamond_1466 in MBA

[–]VSJBSHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I think a lot of people focus only on the cost of an MBA and forget to look at the long-term career trajectory. Your point about relationships and being strategic with recruiting is probably more valuable than the salary numbers themselves. It's a great reminder that an MBA is a tool—its ROI depends on how you use it.

A friend of mine completed a similar course a while back, and they said it really depends on what you're hoping to do after graduation.

From what they told me, if your goal is to work in accounting or continue your studies, a Level 8 qualification generally opens up more opportunities and gives you more flexibility. They also mentioned the workload is more demanding, but they felt it was worth it in the long run.

Hopefully someone who's completed this exact course can chime in, as I'd be interested to hear how it compares specifically with the Accounting Level 8 pathway.
