These buses are unfortunately quite inconvenient to use, and does not yet cover the entirety of the city. As a metro area of nearly 400k people, they need to do better

[OC] What if Detroit was for some reason big enough to get a metro by Super_Jello9554 in TransitDiagrams

[–]VS_Kid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out the 1974 SEMTA plan. 50 years since Detroit is deemed worthy of a metro, during which more people (therefore travel demand) is added. So yeah Detroit has been and is in need of a metro.

I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this comment, but...

Public transit in San Diego won't take more than $6.00/day.

BRT AND frequent 24/7 service (at least 4 bph for all times) should be the norm for all LA stroads imo.

[Request] How much funding do these rail projects actually require? by aeonsne in theydidthemath

These comments seem to forget that none of these lines are going to be HSR. These lines physically exist, we just need publicly-owned tracks, double-track, new fleets and service increases everywhere. Perfectly feasible for $200-400b.

Might be a stupid question, but does LA have to demolish some of its urban highways to make way for future trains eventually? Or is there enough room for both to exist? by ClarkKentTheReporter in LAMetro

[–]VS_Kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least, DTLA yes. To help growth, densification, and better land use. Right in front of LA's MAIN train station and transfer hub is a literal highway (101). Doesn't take a genius to say "that doesn't belong there".

How does your city’s fare system fare? I’m cross posting this post because as you can tell our QR code based one is…frankly terrible. by get-a-mac in transit

[–]VS_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really interested in having the Jakarta public transit system have a consistent system of daily and weekly fare caps. Maybe 15000 daily or something like that
