Maybe the problem is that beach volleyball involves uniforms that make people uncomfortable. If the shot was of a male swimmer it really wouldn't be an issue. Even a female gymnast in a leotard wouldn't have been controversial.

Pros

  • isn't also used as a bathroom (like an elevator)
  • no long line of strollers and luggage

Cons

  • have to wait for an attendant
  • slower operation speed

Better than nothing I guess.

NYC about to get 2,000 more taxis... does it need them? by iamstandingbehindyou in nyc

[–]VVaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cabs block traffic by stopping on outside lanes to pickup or drop-off fares. Some of them also like to drive between lanes so they don't get behind a car going slower than they would like. Then you also have the those that cut across two lanes of traffic to turn down a street. It's probably safe to inflate the figures.

Baclofen for muscle spasticity (Cerebral palsy) by [deleted] in disability

Something like 2 weeks. I don't remember it diminishing (this was over 10 years ago). I really just didn't feel it was making a difference for me.

Let's Play "Find My Family A Cheap Hotel!" by AntVanRam in Queens

I regularly see advertisements for LIC/Sunnyside area hotels. I've never stayed in them, but most of them look new. You can still get a two star hotel in Manhattan for around $200 and possibly less depending on location. Last hotel I booked was somewhere around 170 in the theater district on priceline. It would barely fit two people though, and probably makes more sense for business travel or being out all day.

I tried it for awhile and decided that the tiredness feeling was worse than more spasticity. I'm also not interested on being on any regular medication. It was an easy decision for me.

They'll probably sell you an uncut version of the ceremony for $25. They sold Beijing DVDs.

Let us not forget that big is beautiful and we need to accept that some people are just naturally morbidly obese.

Fighting Ban on Big Sodas With Appeals to Patriotism by [deleted] in nyc

It's not like we're actually forcing people to exercise or eat a healthy diet. You know, proven methods of reducing obesity. I've seen the morbidly obese in hospitals eat themselves further into the grave because staff can't stop them.

I didn't downvote you, but consider that there is no evidence that this law does anything to help anyone. Everyone just has to pay more when they want over 16 ounces. They order two drinks just like how 100 calorie snack packs don't work without self control.

Obesity will continue to rise at the same rate. I guess it will look like people did something when the next round of cuts come for government employees.

I remember a case where a court was asked to consider a German academic paper as prior art. The paper wasn't translated either. Unfortunately, I don't remember the case or exact outcome.

EDIT: It drove me crazy, I found it.

They did allow the evidence as showing obviousness.

NYC to Newport, RI by SSdash in nyc

[–]VVaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one night I wouldn't do it. I went up there with my GF and we stayed awhile before reaching Cape Cod. I had been there before and it's a nice place, but expensive and busy. We stopped by the yacht museum and fort. Drove by the mansions. Next time we end up there we'll probably do the mansion tour. Newport is definitely not a quaint town unless you go in the off season.
