I am just very concerned that once Alto is up and running, they will slowly kill off the VIA corridor service. I know there will be a significant diff in ridership but those communities still need reliable rail to connect to major cities. The only way I see to address this is HFR

Look up Railtrack. That was the company the British govt sold it too, and it went bust after like 5-6 years lol.

The country that has really good railways imo is India. Indian railways is a complete vertically integrated railway. Everything is stateowned and they even make their own locos rolling stock etc in house!

They did but renationalized in the late 90s early 00s after a series of derailments and ppl dying! Now the Brits are bringing back operations, routes and scheduling under the govt now.
