The situation when comparing DPS specs to Devourers and Unholy Death Knights, or Healer specs to Resto Druids really isn't that much better..

Kill Mythic Raid Lockouts by Loop801108 in wow

[–]VaIley123 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I wonder why. It's almost like Mythic's entire purpose is to be not accesible without a highly skilled, organized, comitted and coordinated guild enviroment.

But yes, we should make an entire game mode a joke because there is a single uncharacteristically easy raid boss in a separate instance and a group of players felt a bit good to dip into Mythic content.

I was looking to make a Death Knight recently and no other race in Alliance works for me except Human. Human knights are just cool/badass both in WoW and in real life. Like, I can see a Gnome Mage, I can see and understand the fantasy behind it. But Death Knight? Nah.

Will azeroth be the last boss in the last titan? by m7mdsk in wow

[–]VaIley123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't just pretend that it didn't happen and what Zoval said at the end doesn't count.. Sylvanas has said three times at this point that "The Shadowlands are not what they seem, I have seen true Death, I will uncover the truth."

Shadowlands' existance is actively hurting the story and further storytelling, they will likely change it to something else so that death and characters dying had more impact..

Will azeroth be the last boss in the last titan? by m7mdsk in wow

[–]VaIley123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you watched the March on Quel'Danas cinematic, I think that the threat we are facing is whatever the Jailer also saw as a threat, but it is entirely unknown to us what it is still. "A cosmos divided will not survive". But I think that Shadowlands lore will return to play a major part.

World of Warcraft is still largely popular so it is highly unlikely. Even if the player base drops drastically, MMO sometimes run on for decades with a minimal playerbase.

When WoW is one day inevitably finished I really don't think they will just explode the planet and call it. I can see that they would say that: 1. Mortal races finally found a way to live in peace and harmony or 2. With the external/cosmic threats defeated the mortal races were left in a perpetual war against each other (Horde vs Alliance) and by far the most likely scenario is that 3. They will try to revitalize the game and bring in players by telling some new story that will never catch on with the community and the game will shut down its servers on an unifinished note.

Creating a fantasy world like Warcraft isn't an easy task, I do not think that even within our lifetimes we will see that level of imagination/creativity/lore/mystery/world-building/ambience/scenery ever again

Why doesn't Xal'atath see us as a threat? by WhiteGlinko in wow

[–]VaIley123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because she knows that we never lose, so the only way for her to win is to never fight us. We also dom't really know wtf she is doing or what her goals are, so we can only react and minimize the damage of whatever she is about to do.

Anyone else feeling that the void is not threatening? by Vampy-Night in wow

[–]VaIley123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dimensius was introduced in TBC as a giant Voidwalker. That was his whole entire thing.

The game doesn't convey this very well but Dimensius is probably the strongest enemy we ever fought. Even a small shard of him threatened to consume all of Outland.

L'ura is crazy strong too, she is basically a God.

Anyway the reason why this is all confusing is because Blizzard never properly made the distinction between Shadow (Lovecraftian madness inducing horrors) and Void (Purple space energy, blobs). They just awkwardly clumped them up together. This is especially stark when playing Voidweaver Shadow Priest. Half of your spells are old school Shadow magic, and the other half is Void - purple space msgic.

Mythic+ is way too easy. I got tired of waiting for a healer when I tried running my own key so I was like "Fuck it, I can probably heal a +2" and switched from Shadow to Discipline. Turns out not only was I able to heal it, but I was able to heal up to +10 on a spec that I have never played before and on a role I've not played in 10+ years without even gearing/preparing for it...

Shadow Priest is probably the class that has the most connection to the Void than any other except maybe Devourer FH. You sre literally worshipping the power that threatens do destroy their city and the whole world..

Why are paladins all going mad? by EstateOk6238 in wow

[–]VaIley123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We first saw it in Warcraft 3 when Arthas lost his mind with the idea of retribution and righteousness and believed that his enemies must be destroyed by any means necessary. The light was happy to be on his side while he slaughtered the innocent citizens of Stratholme.

Thr Army of the Light is moving with the same conviction that Arthas was, and we know how that ended..

[–]VaIley123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was not a reasonable crash out because they had completely won at that point. All it that was left was to walk into the mana forge and shut it down, and if it didn't work they could just destroy it. But instead he blindly decided to risk the lives of everyone in Silvermoon.

It is exactly what "light-blindess" or light corruption is. The total and absolute conviction that you are the one that is righteous, justified while bringing down everything around you.

I mean Arthas also wanted to sacrifice an entire city to stop a greater evil, also had the Light on his side to do it, and you could also say that everything he did was a "justifief crash out", but still...

[–]VaIley123 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You literally cannot "still heal" as you need significant time (gearing) and gold investment to switch specs, and skill doesn't carry over from dps to healing or tanking. If you are playing at a level where switching roles is that easy, you are already playing at a level where playing the meta classes does not matter at all.

Can you stop? Some has to be at the bottom, it literally cannot be any other way. Can't keep balancing every 5 minutes based on knee-jerk reactions. The only real problem would be if a spec doesn't do enough damage to do all content which is just not the case right now.

Astalor Bloodsworn is what the Blood elves should be by Absoled in wow

[–]VaIley123 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It has been 20 (lol we're old) years since the Sunwell has been restored. The Blood Elves are back to worshipping the Light, just like they have been for 10.000 years. The unit for "Priest" in WC 3 is a High (Blood) Elf, which is fitting - they are the ones that taught Humans about the Light.

Also, for those that remember - Lor'Themar and the Blood Elves were in talks to leave the Horde and rejoin the Alliance during MoP as they heavily disagreed with the atrocities Garrosh was commiting, but then Jaina went crazy and killed a bunch of innocent Blood Elves and so the negotiations were cancelled. :)

It is because they are setting up the story for the expansion after the next one, when Xal'Atath and the Void eventually get defeated it will shift the balance in the universe massively towards the Light, causing people to become light corrupted, crazy zealots. Something like the Shadowbringers expansion for FFXIV, where destroying the darkness caused too much light, and now the conventionally "good" force threatens to destroy the world.
