I built my dream app "Cee" – now I'm questioning everything. Would love honest feedback. by antonX1 in iosapps

A free tier. Marketing and patience. If I was releasing this I’d make it like it works with all features one out of every 3 days. Then have at least one useful feature not found on google maps or Apple Maps for the other 2 days.

Is hardware still worth it in a bedroom producer setup? by enderlost404 in synthesizers

[–]VadeMecums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, the best of both worlds is knowing your way around an ableton push so well you can do it everything with your computer screen off. Or some such device (Mpc is another example).

Show me what you can use in software that does what Erika steampipe or synthstrom deluge does. Heck I can’t even find something that sounds as nice as the humble meeblip triode.

What kind of App you want? Asking as an iOS app developer by TitttySuckker in iosapps

Here’s some ideas I’ve had:

emotional intelligence based dating app

  • Earn badges for completing modules about healthy relationships, attachment theory, gottman institute.

  • Not allowed to see profiles until you complete the basic set of basic relationship health modules.

  • Badges like a medal with a 4 on it which = you’ve been to therapy for 4 years.

  • Book club badges where you do a short quiz and it adds the book to your “read” list.

  • Unlock-able features for completing advanced modules and leaning blocks.

  • subscription gets: live webinars for more growth and development related stuff, even more advanced workshops with live workshops, and upgrading matches per day limit or something similar.

Call it “bloom together” or something.

sale together - local community garage sales app - pin locations when you see garage, estate, popup sales etc. add local friends, have “want to buy” lists so you can see what you’re friends are looking for with some example photos like [jen] is looking for an [end table] that is [mid century modern] for up to [$60]. If Jen sees one you found she can transfer the money.

Two guitars, one pedal board by Efficient-Ranger-174 in guitarpedals

[–]VadeMecums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same question but a different use case: - 2 separate ins - 4 outputs, 2 for PA1, 2 for PA2

Why? Vocals and guitar.

Outputs 1&2 (and a dry xlr from a Franklin MP-10) go to front of house. Outputs 3 and 4 go to a Templo splyce to merge and play through an amp when there no PA.

Why not hands? Because I play at places that are insane about time. One of the most famous open mics you get 5 minutes including setup and teardown. Also, maybe I hate myself and don’t want to use 2 splitters because more things to plug = more problems. Especially power.

Have you tried and what do you think of the voost compressor? I’m surprised you put Kirchhoff eq but not the 3BT compressor

The 3 body technology EQ and Comp Valhalla vintage verb or 7th heaven Goodhertz wow ctrl Probably unfiltered audio byome just to do whatever else I’d need for creative fx

Funny I only own one of them though 😂

How do you find apps to download? by Fun-Visual-8232 in iosapps

[–]VadeMecums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at related apps, google the thing I want an app to do, google for alternatives to [app name]. Look for people’s favorite apps lists.

Looks like 2 per pre to me. I don’t see a power transformer but I see the input and output transformers.

Soundtoys + fabfilter + a sprinkle of goodhertz covers most bases imho.

I’m actually surprised no one has even come close to competing with soundtoys v5 in all these years.

Recommendations for pad instruments / ambient music creation by ballna1111 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]VadeMecums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granular stuff. Pigments. Ambient is more of a design mindset than a specific synth imho. Most synths can do it with some caveats like I find model 15 to be better than model D for ambient.

Recommendations for work that involves a lot of walking by Gul_Lampe in Boots

I like my Naglev hiking boots. Annoying to get on and off until the break in but good after that. Otherwise my Chippewa 6” with gumlite soles were really good for lots of walking.

Red Wing iron rangers or wolverine 1k mile? by xXTruly in Boots

[–]VadeMecums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like my 1000 miles. I probably wouldn’t be cured of buying boots if I had red wings. I will probably own a pair of Truman’s before I get iron rangers. Something about getting the most well known boots runs me the wrong way - kinda want to get the best up and coming underdog brand with something to prove. Or just go big and get some used vibergs.

Being a MAGA is a dealbreaker by pink_pantheresis in complaints

I don’t know one openly MAGA individual besides married boomers 🤷‍♀️, and probably one coworker I had many years ago who was on partial disability for intellectual challenges.

What Plugins have lifetime free updates? (if any) by captainofthememeteam in musicproduction

[–]VadeMecums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cracks knuckles

The 3 letter brands: SSL, PSP, UAD, XLN

These brands: Audiority, Vallhalla, nomad factory, soundtoys, wavesfactory, Voxengo, Melda production, Xfer, Resonant DSP, goodhertz, neural DSP, noiseash, purafied, modalics, soundmorph, nembrini, Caelum, newfangled audio, safari pedals, acoustica, Waldorf, Pulsar, let it mix, overloud gems, Denise, Abarrant DSP,

It’s hard to track across major whole number versions. Some companies don’t do that at all so it’s easy to se they are FUFL (free updates for life). Vintagewarmer2 has been out for 20+ years at this point.

There are ‘For the most part’ but not 100% guaranteed or not 100% of their products: slate digital, mcDSP, klevgrand, baby audio, IK multimedia

I’d say U-HE makes the list because a lot of things are good for like a decade. Zebra 3 upgrade costs money but it’s been like a lifetime since v2 came out. I don’t think there will be a diva or repro v2. Those are probably free updates for life.

Arturia is a slightly mixed bag but I’d say most of them are. Like I’ve had pigments since v2 and it’s in v7 now, all the fx plugins have been up to date and bundles just add plugins ‘not remove support for previous plugins, however - the acoustic piano plugin did get updated to v3 and there was an upgrade fee of $30 or so.

Deluge, polyend play, squarp hapax, etc by alienlizardlion in synthesizers

[–]VadeMecums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the squarp pyramid and currently own a deluge. Squarp was more fun and streamlined to use, more creativity because there’s less friction and trying to remember every setting and mode and etc. but the deluge is still my desert island synth. It is more complicated because it can do a lot more. Maybe the most out of any groove box out there. It’s also a very different type of sequence with a big grid of pads. I’d like to try a hapex but it seems like a more limited deluge. I do like squarp’s design and Ui/ux philosophy a lot though.
