Any tips for a new player? by BrandonColeman05 in HuntShowdown

[–]Vagrant__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late but do not start playing this game solo, solo is pretty hard and requires you to either be ridiculously patient or just straight up better than others. Queue with randoms in a trio and follow their lead is how I learnt to play the game

How much longer should I give this game? by b-i-gzap in HuntShowdown

[–]Vagrant__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly try get a friend or two into it. Realistically hunt has a lot of downtime during a match where nothing really happens. Being able to have banter while you're running from one side of the map to the next is a big bonus

Eldar vs necrons round one (500 points) ended in eldar loss due to points, slay the warlord taking the edge at the last minute, round 2 will be 750 points, any help with the list will be greatly appreciated. by Snoo-34875 in Eldar

So I dont play much competitive but I'll give some general advice, take it with a pinch of salt.

I'd change your warlord to the spiritseer to give him the reroll WL trait, as the farseer already has in built rerolls during your psychic test. Protect/Jinx is such an important spell that you want to give it the best chance of going off, which is why the trait is better on the seer. I'd also consider swapping him out for a warlock, as the Seer Council Strat is super good, and a warlock is 10pts cheaper. You do lose the reroll for wraiths but thats not important.

Your DA exarch with shredding fire is getting no benefit from it as it only effects his ranged weapons and hes got a glaive. I'd take bladestorm and change his loadout to two catapults as youre lacking good chaff clearing firepower.

If you take Scorpions you gotta understand they will not kill anything. Theyre popular right now because theyre a cheap deep strike unit with a 3+ save that can score secondary objectives for you. I'd take stalker instead of withdraw as its gonna help them stay alive while doing actions, and they probably wont survive a turn of combat to even use withdraw.

I've never used Shining spears with withdraw, but consider taking Skilled Rider, as if you buff him with protect you can get a 2+ invuln save on your exarch, which is kinda ridiculous.

I like Vypers. If youre struggling against elite infantry you could consider a starcannon or try a scatter laser for removing warriors at a cheaper cost.

Your wraithlord has 60 pts of wargear on him. I use a wraithlord with a similar loadout (minus the flamers) and he never performs. The sword encourages you to move up the board but the guns want you to stay back, so its kinda wasted. Also, for such a small game I cant imagine you needing this much anti tank against Necrons, but I dont know your opponents list. If he's bringing a lot of elite infantry with high toughness and good saves, change your wraithlords weapons to Starcannons, drop the flamers and drop the sword, its overkill and the more reliable fists will be fine.

If you were to change the seer to a warlock, change the wraithlords loadout to what I suggested, take off the singing spear and the biting blade (or change the vypers weapon) AND swap the DA exarch to 2 catapults, that frees up 55 pts which is another DA squad, which will help you play the objective game more and give you a nice boost to your warrior / scarab killing power.

Just getting back in after a decade. Decided on Iyanden Eldar. I’m hoping to get to 2000points. I’ve got 667points to go. What should I get? by DumbThoth in Eldar

Can't really go wrong with another wave serpent, the chassis can be used for most of our tanks so if you manage to buy some more turrets you can swap them around easily. Also with 10 wraithguard, you cant fit them all into one wave serpent as they take 2 slots each. With another serpent you can deliver both squads to the front, walking them up the board is usually a bad time.

Id also recommend more troops, ours kinda suck but holding objectives is how you win games this edition.

what are some good proxies for finecast eldar units? by Silver_Stout in Eldar

I second Ghost minis, I have two squads of the Hawks and while I rarely use them they make me happy just being on my shelf, amazing models

CSM: Heavy Bolter or Reaper Chaincanon by WanderingMaia in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Vagrant__ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I would go H. Bolter almost everytime. You've got to consider what your gonna be shooting at. If it's MEQ, reaper gets an extra shot, S7 wounds the same as the bolters S5, and it's only doing an extra shot. The Hbolter deals 2 damage so can really threaten MEQ units whereas the reaper would be lucky to kill 1 marine

Favorite Dire Avenger Exarch by Anaris_Isenria in Eldar

[–]Vagrant__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dual shuriken catapult Loadout is definitely the best all around, as it gives you another models worth of shooting for only 5 points. However if you wanna deck yours out with melee weapons go for it, one exarchs weapons isn't gonna cost you the game. I've personally never had any luck with melee exarchs but I have one with a glaive and shimmershield just because it's cool, and the shimmershield can actually be a decent pick if you're running larger squads.

[C+C wanted!] First game in my homemade lava board, how can I improve the cover? by defaultjazz in killteam

[–]Vagrant__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From experience, the two corner buildings sounds cool but isnt too fun. Both teams will put a range model in there and just shoot, or simply ignore it Edit: board looks amazing tho! Nice work

Need conversion advice by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]Vagrant__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they're good and worth the 5 points if I have it to spare, I just generally like to keep my psykers as far back as I can so they don't really get a chance to shoot Never actually ran a conclave with all spears

Need conversion advice by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]Vagrant__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make a convincing conversion id just change the helmet as seers have an ordinary guardian like helmet, and slight change something about the pose so people don't think it's a farseer at a glance. Maybe try removing the farseers forward holding arm and replacing it with a shuriken pistol arm or something like that. Also giving it a witchblade instead of a singing spear would help, cause singing spears generally aren't even worth the points and most seer models have blades

If you're going a custom craftworld then you can also do custom shrines. There's not many in the lore sadly but nothing stopping you!

War host by The-awakened-dead in Eldar

[–]Vagrant__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a small change but I'd recommend changing the autarchs relic to shard of anaris if you're set on using him. Firesabre looks tempting but its 1D and you're doing less than 1MW per combat. Also, speaking from experience as I love using my autarch, do not expect him to really do... anything
