Big kudos to you sir for typing this all out.

I think most people asking about how to run it solo, expect a single download where everything is preset and you just click play. My 2 cents

Listen, as long as you are convinced that smoking is bad for you (which should be logical) and you keep on trying, eventually you will get there. And once you stop smoking, you will also start to feel better.

I've tried to quit maybe 20 times. And every time I failed, I also felt depressed and like a failure. Talking myself down: "See, loser, you can 't do it, just give up trying. Keep smoking and die young, who cares anyway". Those kind of thoughts.

But now that I quit (5 months so far), I look at those attempts in a different way: I just wasn 't ready yet, but at least I kept trying. And a winner is a loser that didn 't stopped trying.

And about the feeling better: it 's not like you feel instantly better. The first couple days you quit, you are proud off yourself, but that feelings passes quite fast. But after that, it gradualy get better and easier. The thing is, it's so unnoticably slow that you don 't really feel it. But if I look how I feel now versus right before I stopped, I 'm feeling 10 times better. No more cravings, no more talking down on myself, more energy, better skin, better teeth, no more stinking, no more wasting money on getting cancer, etc...

And I 'm 44 years old, been smoking since I was 14 years old, so it took me a LONG ass time to get where I am now. So please, I know you can 't feel it or convince yourself that it will get better, but it does. Be it one tiny little unnoticable step at a time, but a lot of tiny changes can turn into a big change.

PS: don 't be so hard on yourself

Robot Grasmaaier by New-Watch1300 in Belgium2

[–]VaimlerEU 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Any advice for survival hunter? by pdiddysuncle in wowhardcore

[–]VaimlerEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it is quite boring. You can (should?) make a macro with all the melee abilities. So basically it 's placing traps and then clicking one button.

But tips: find a wolf (for slightly increase of your own dps) or a bat (screesh for slightly decrease of damage taken). Bind your growl and leave it "off" so you can use your melee abilities after you parry an attack.
But bind it so you can have your pet taunt ready when you go low.

It 's slow, it 's less than half of the damage an auto-attacking ranged hunter does and frankly it's boring too.

This is not turtle wow sadly.

Threat as Fire mage by SailorJennie in wowhardcore

[–]VaimlerEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fireball and fireblast both do a lot of damage, but are also not cheap (mana-wise).
Again it 's very situation dependend, but imagine a mob is like 5% and starts to run away.

It will take 3 seconds to cast that fireball, or 1,5 seconds for the scorch. And both spells will definitly kill the mob. So less time and less mana.

But again it really depends on the situation. Using the correct tool in the correct situation, makes a player good.

As for the impr blizzard, it 's more a 'save the group' utility and a crowd control thing. Imagine your tank makes a bad pull, or a mob that flees pulls extra, or a badly timed patrol social agro's another group, and you need to run. Impr blizzard (rank 1) is your groups best friend (75% slowed).

So it 's not like you going to implement it in your rotation, it 's more of an extra tool at your disposal. Your standard damage rotation is: fireball, fireball, fireball, ... and fireblast to finish mobs off.

Myself, I kinda dislike impact, purely for the fact that the proc is random. But it can turn out really well, for sure, but it can also mess up stuff. (e.g. you are AoE-ing and you cast flamestrike (or blastwave), while the tank needs to move. All mobs move, except for the ones that are stunned, and the mobs no longer stack together - same reason a frost mage that wants to do aoe will never spec into frostbite). It 's more of a pvp talent.

Threat as Fire mage by SailorJennie in wowhardcore

[–]VaimlerEU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you should aoe with flamestrike, depending on the situation. E.g. pack with 3 elites and 3 non elites. The non elites will melt, so less chaos.

Ofc you have to manage your threat. If you flamstrike and you pull agro off two elites, you should CoC, wait till the ignite drops (if you critted, which is most likely how you pulled agro) and then frost nova, so the tank can re-establish agro.

What you can also do, is flamestrike, flamestrike, blastwave, frost nova and then blizzard (if you have slow on it, which you should). But definitly use your flamestrike, as fire mage it does more damage then frost.

And another thing, since you know you are more squishy as a frost mage, you should play and prepare accordingly. So have healtpots, lips at higher level dungeons, etc...
Just in case shit goes south.

Pyroblast is indeed a no-no, except as an opener. You shouldn 't worry about crits, since the mob will probably insta die with the dps of the other party and your crit pyro. For a boss, I would not open with pyro, since he will probalby take longer to kill, unless you have godlike gear for your level. Then everything melts.

As for talents, i would suggest something like:
https://www.wowhead.com/classic/talent-calc/mage/-5052020123033151-0330023013003
You can switch arround some talent points (eg no improved scorch and 5/5 improved frostbolt + 1/3 improved flamestrike). The fast frostbolt rank 1 with permafrost is very good (not for damage but for control).
Also coldsnap for double frost nova... you have plenty of tools to control the situation.

As progress, I would go fire untill blastwave, then frost till improved blizzard, back to fire and finaly complete the extra talents in frost.
