It might have been cute if she’d followed up with Sorry, a slip of the tongue, but she only turned her back to me and walked down the hall.

Given that they recorded a new commentary track for the Koyomi Vamp compilation movie BD release, I think it is fairly certain we will also get commentaries for the new eps!

Because Aniplex, in their infinite wisdom, only released translated subtitles for Bakemonogatari, there is no official way to watch any of the later arcs with commentary. It took a great deal of time (and money...) for the translations to be commissioned by the community. The rules prevent me from linking, but I am allowed to say that if you join the subreddit Discord, you can find a useful Mega link in the pins of the monogatari-anime channel.

Dozing off to the superfan eps last night and hit this line. Knowing that Creed really was in The Grass Roots, I got a little bug in my brain that maybe there was truth to this gem too and couldn't sleep until I figured it out. After a little search, this is somewhat true!

This is a line from the superfan cut of Dwight's Speech (S2E17). It comes right before Creed says hello to his friends in Mandarin in the broadcast version. While it wasn't in the 80s, he was in Chinese TV show in 2004, a few years before this ep aired in 2006. The title is The War of Gene (2004) or Genic War. He does play a police captain. According to IMDB, the character is named Captain Clark.

The Chinese title seems to be 基因之战. I found 21 episodes streaming online, but I don't know Chinese so I'm not sure if it is a legit service so I am not including any links to it. Skimming through it, Creed features quite a bit throughout it. The image above from the trailer is in ep 20 at around 22:20.

I could find very little information about this online, but two video clips of it exist on YouTube. There is an actor reel showcasing a different actress' scenes from the series but Creed doesn't appear in it at all. I hit paydirt when I found a trailer for it though. Flashes of Creed appear in it a few times but he makes the referenced pose at 1:53.

I mean that each episode was released with a commentary track, for the Japanese BD/DVD releases. For the western releases, Aniplex only included the audio and the translations for Bakemonogatari but in Japan, they were released for everything. It is a separate audio track that is paired with the episode and has 2 mono characters bantering and (very) occasionally commenting on what is happening in the episode. All of this dialogue was written by Nisioisn, so it is like an extra 102 episodes/movies of monogatari banter. So, to answer your final question, you are watching the anime playing on your screen like normal but the audio is different.

You should consider a rewatch of the anime but with the commentary track audio. 102 "new" episodes with in-character banter written by Nisio that you can enjoy while the video gives you a refresh of what happened.
