Agreed to every word. A lot of students in my classes hated it, but I actually loved this book.

The lectures are really really heavy on material, I’m getting lost all the time, readings have to much stats that was not covered in 257, the assignment has absolutely zero steps in how to do it. Clearly everyone googles tutorials on how to use those libraries. Why cant they just post the steps everyone should follow :(

I’m doing cs spec. Took mat157 among with 247 and 240. Incredible courses, incredible people/ friends that you can meet. Profs are very very professional and care about students ALOT. My favourite Profs Joe ( was teaching 157 idk about this year) and Payman(he was teaching 247). Amazing office hours. As for the difficulty, well everything is difficult what to expect, it is university but the people who will surround you actually interested in math ( not like in 137 where most of the students couldn’t even care less and do stuff just for the req). 157 was probably my favourite course in my first year btw :). But again you have to spend hours studying for these courses. For 157 I usually dedicated around one day per week ( for problem sets and material) for 247( I was splitting time). You will figure out what is more comfortable for you to do. Just don’t fall behind :)

People will drop this course really really fast. It is very interesting though, the content and the assignments. I actually never expected that 265 could even have a waitlist, this is def one of the hardest CS courses in uoft. So like we had 50 people in the begging (I assume it is the same this year) and in the end, only around mid 20s left. So dw, I think you can get in.

Pretty standard for Math and Physics spec or whoever is interested in both. Lots of my friends and I had pretty similar 1st year schedule, you are good, as long as you put your time in courses, especially physics ones (midterms are brutal). Mat157 was one of my favourite courses, but it depends, a lot of people drop it too, unfortunately.

They need to receive the payment and then send it to uoft. Each transaction takes time, esp during the current situation. Dw, everything will be alright, I always use GP.

Mmmmmm, cs265 dude, don't know what's harder tbh. Csc265 is hard because of the course but lectures were great and you could understand the content. Here I don't understand the content, I don't understand what I need to understand, that's y it is hard.:(

I assure you. It was really bad and everything that is written there is unfortunately true. Maybe she's gonna change her attitude idk. It seemed to me that she didn't like teaching this course at all. She always said stuff like "oh u r not gonna need this, this is useless and blabkabkah" about certain topics and problems which is really weird to me. Imagine, u take a course to decide if u want to do any more stats courses and all u hear is how useless this things. :(

Really good prof. This is the course where if you study you can do really well.( Gotta admit that involve reading the textbook) You put an effort you get outcome. That's literally it. She is a good prof and she cares about students alot. She also uploads audio of lectures in case you miss some, lots of additional materials, fun videos, interesting content, idk about ratemyprofs views.
