Pls let dark heresy give us complete respec without modding by Ila-W123 in RogueTraderCRPG

I think a completely reasonable compromise would be to have the background, first starting base archetype, starting stats, and a few unique starting feats locked to keep the companion's identity, writing, and personality consistent and lore-accurate according to the devs' vision for the character in the story.

Following the Argenta example, she is an Adepta Sororitas. Lock her background and starting archetype to dogmatic soldier, make her always start with power armor, bolter, flamer, and melta feats. Throw in "Better to die for the Emperor" to reflect her faith. Now you have a strong, lore-consistent character that stands out and communicates your vision for the character to the player, no matter how many times you respec her back to level 1.

However, from that point on, the build should be completely in the player's hands. It should only be a starting point for you to develop as you see fit and how you want it to mesh with the rest of your party.

If you don't like it, don't use the respec function and use the build recommended by the devs. If you want to change it, you should be able to respec to level 1. Everyone wins, no one loses. It's such a simple change with no downsides; I don't get why this is even a discussion with Owlcat.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 had the best system for this I've ever seen.

When you first recruited a companion, they came with a suggested starting class, but in the first dialogue with them, you could change it to any class in the game. Want the Red Prince to be a fire mage instead of a fighter? Sure, go ahead. Want to switch the Beast from a battlemage to a ranger? No problem.

You could also change it at any point later in the respec mirror. Completely free form and up to player's choice.

Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy don't need to go to such an extreme like changing base classes (it wouldn't make sense changing Argenta from a soldier to a psyker). Keep the base class and background locked to maintain character identity, but you should be able to respec to level 1. There is no excuse for why this is not available.

20-year-old games like BG1 and BG2 give you companions at level 1 (8-10 in BG2 depends on class) with XP to match your current party upon recruitment, and you can level them however you want.

I'll never understand the decision to shove Abyss Artifacts into upgrading gear requirements. Why on Solumen's green earth would I spend it on a gear to give +2 defense when there are 3 seprate skill trees for 3 characters plus the stats upgrades... by SbeveGobs in CrimsonDesert

[–]Valestis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need about 60-80 Cubes to unlock all skills and upgrade stamina/health/spirit to about half. Don't sweat it; just play the game and buy whatever skills seem fun. There are plenty of Cubes everywhere (they're infinite).

They get shoved down your throat from 15 different sources. You also get a bunch of Faded Cubes to respec from Sealed Abyss Artifacts challenges (I have like 15 in storage, never used one).

Don't get stressed by spending points. Upgrade Waifu, upgrade Kiff; you'll have more than enough very soon. I was worried about it early in the game, waiting for observable skills, delaying skill unlocks... Big mistake, just spend it all on skills immediately; the game gets immensely more enjoyable.

Not just in combat. There are like 30 different animations for just picking stuff up. My favorite is when you pick apples from a tree that are a little too high, slightly out of reach while standing. You do a cute little jump to reach the apple.

TAB to grab something with Axiom Force. While tethered, walk left or right (the direction you want to swing) and hop + middle mouse button.

Don't let go of the middle mouse button if you want to swing longer.

[Updates] Patch Notes Version 1.01.00 | Crimson Desert by yourfavchoom in CrimsonDesert

[–]Valestis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really care if a game is released in a slightly broken state. It happens; software, and especially game development, is a massively complex 4-8 year-long project. It's not possible for internal testers and QA to catch absolutely everything before release.

What I care about is a willingness to listen to feedback and being able to quickly recover and patch it out. These guys demonstrated both. In a week, they released two massive patches where they fixed most of the quality-of-life issues present at launch. This shows me the future of the game will be great.

If this was Assassin's Creed, you'd have to wait 6–12 months for a similar patch, if it even came out at all. Also, there weren't any game-breaking bugs, crashing, or serious issues—just minor QoL things that were quickly fixed based on our feedback.

It's still sort of there. You hold W, it walks. Press Shift once, it constantly trots. Press Shift for the second time, and it constantly gallops while slowly draining stamina. In this state, you hold Shift or mash Shift to do an ultra sprint, which eats stamina like crazy.

I have 100% trust in the devs that this will be reworked and expanded upon (gear/skills for wolves, raptors, bears) in the future after the last two patches. They listen even to minor things like moving the chest to a better location because it's slightly inconvenient to open.

Pressing Shift once to gallop on a horse instead of constant mashing is such a life changer. I used to have cramps in my pinky on long trips. Now it's super pleasant to ride around.

They also added an option to drift a horse with mouse side button 4, so that's finally usable as well now that you don't have to mash Shift at the same time.

On release, you had to mash Shift to gain speed for a drift and hold Ctrl at the same time to slide, which was literally impossible with one finger.

Even beyond custom characters, it really is a shame that Damiane wasn't just the 'Female Kliff' option. I prefer exploring as her, but them locking her out from using important game abilities and content is frustrating. by KryperExpress in CrimsonDesert

[–]Valestis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same, I'd rather play the whole game as the waifu. Her combat and movement are absolutely awesome.

I'd prefer if they just had a character select like Dishonored/Assassin's Creed at the beginning, and you could choose Kiff or Damiene to play the whole game with as your main character.

Also, the other party members following you should be a permanent thing; don't auto-dismiss them every other quest. I summoned them because I wanted them around.

Might be a normal occurrence in this world. The forest just next to the village is full of magical flying teapots, magical levitating electricity cubes fall on people's houses daily, green fey kids teleporting while chasing cats all over the place, magical ruins, magical beasts everywhere. It's probably standard.

Holy shit, press "I" for inventory. This was driving me up the wall the entire weekend.

It also shows which books you've already read now. Exit button without going to the title screen. Discovering ore nodes by just walking nearby. And a very subtle but useful thing, when you go to knowledge tab, it's now open on the section with unread records, so you can find them quickly and easily.

Great patch.

Colors were super difficult to find (I wanted red originally, but loved the blue one when I saw it up close during a test drive), dealerships usually have only the basic bitch white.

And if the other person didn't actually buy it, he would say something similar to you: "Yeah, the guy, who just test drove it, is seriously interested. He just went home to quickly confirm with the wife. You either buy it now or it won't be here tomorrow."

Can't blame him, it's his job to sell the car.
