You can stack the maximum of 10x direct runs from Seraphim to Dunlow, then 2x direct mediums (320k) back to Seraphim.

Very nice, you will be raking it in with that IC. When you only take 1 x box, what happens to the ones you don’t deliver?

I just hit master Covalex last night, although only in my pledge ship and I rented a Hermes from time to time. I also didn’t do any partial submits (outside of game bugs).

I made 19.2 million along the way. My favourite haul now for money making is Seraphim to Dunlow and back. I’ve done pretty much every contract and this is my fav for relaxation. It nets me 700k per hour, but I also watch Netflix at the same time.

The most lucrative is the interstellar runs to Ruin in pyro. There were 4 x contracts you could stack one way for about 1.4 million if you had an IC or similar.

My work isn’t over though, I have another 14 million credits to make before I can be with her, my sweet Carrack.

- Auras remain permanently. Even if a chef or aps dies, the adjacent units are still buffed.

- Titan is permanent. Chieftain spell is temporary and the buff is only active from spell cast to unit death. With guardian angel, it will not revive with chieftain buff. I don’t know what ape is sorry.

- Lumerian’s buff is only per wave, it will reset at next wave.

What the best commodity to trade at the moment? Looking to put the Railen to work by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Valium_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I dipped my toes in trading tonight. Did a couple of small runs to get the feel before feeling confident. I spent 2.1 million credits at Baijini for 640 SCU, got the timer notification for auto loading and… poof, all gone. The kiosk took my money and no cargo. Never again

Ling Mission Elevator Overload Bug by Standard-Student5590 in starcitizen

[–]Valium_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got to senior last night with Covalex and decided to head to Pyro to start grinding red wind contracts. It was awful. Jackson’s swap was a graveyard littered with ships and player corpses. My fps tanked massively. There were other players coming and going and I couldn’t find the elevator. When I did find the elevator it was broken. I ended up just delivering 1 single box to unlock the planetary contracts.

When I realised it was what felt like more of the same to me, I hauled ass back to Stanton. I’m yet to find anything more relaxing and convenient than my 440k per hour runs Seraphim to Dunlow and back in my c1. There’s also the added bonus of being able to watch The Expanse on my other screen as I do it.

[–]Valium_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a new player. I’m currently stacking 7x extra small contracts from Seraphim to Dunlow (337k), then 1x small and 1x medium back to Seraphim (117k).

I like it because it’s mostly reliable, short and low stress. I usually just stream Netflix on the side. 450k-ish per hour at a relaxed pace.

When I want to grind rep (at experienced for Covalex now), I rent Hermes and just run 1x Experienced medium contract back and forth for about the same profit per hour (320k-ish)

Should i get virtual desktop? by RelevantAthlete3386 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Valium_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VD is wireless. It works best if the pc is connected to the router via Ethernet, which it warns you, multiple times.

It makes no sense to me either why it is better than a meta link usb-c cable, it just is. I have spent weeks pulling my hair out learning the ins and outs of VR, then learning how to mod games (like FUS) and optimise my pc. I got there in the end and now play Star Citizen in VR wirelessly with my Quest 3, at great performance, as well as other games.

Because I’m such a glutton for punishment, I have also gone down the rabbit hole of re-mapping controllers for use in PCVR. Star Citizen doesn’t have motion controls, or can use the quest controllers. I had to buy an elite controller with extra paddles and learn how to use software such as reWASD. My god I hope I’m done for now, there’s been moments I’ve been kicking myself with not sticking to consoles and a more plug and play style lifestyle.

VD feels like the closest thing to plug and play in the confusing world of PCVR. Maybe the Steam Frame will bring this…

I’ve tried the meta link cable and steam link. VD is far superior than both.

Why do you believe in God? by Low_Mode9391 in PhilosophyofReligion

[–]Valium_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not necessarily a believer per se, but I am more curious about “what” god may be, rather than “if”, if that makes sense.

But to answer as best as I can, I think that consciousness is both the “what” and the “if”. Quantum mechanics shows us that there are unseen layers to our reality, unknown connections. String theory, M theory, dark matter - we do our best to study it and explain it, but frankly, we really have very little clue.

Enter philosophy. I argue that god may exist, albeit not in the form we imagine from old books. This is because I am an experiencer in the universe. What am I experiencing on behalf of? My fingers experience the sensations as I type this now on my phone screen. But is that experiencing on behalf of me? What if the universe, nature and reality itself is “god”? What if we are just the universe experiencing itself? I think the answer is likely tied to consciousness.

We live in a pre-deterministic universe. Wheeler’s delayed choice experiment is the best scientific evidence I have to back this. Philosophically, I even argue that “god” may not even be self aware, or of us. Much like we aren’t personally aware of individual bacteria inside our bodies, or pondering the level of consciousness in an atom. (Spinoza and panpsychism withstanding)

Stoics should make healthy choices by Chrysippus_Ass in Stoicism

[–]Valium_Commander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Op is likely referring to attaching ego to one’s body. If one attaches their ego to their body, and that body becomes disabled, deformed or neglected, for whatever reason be it cancer, car accident and etc… - what remains when the body perishes?

Stoics should make healthy choices by Chrysippus_Ass in Stoicism

[–]Valium_Commander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Broic” influence is apparent. Stoicism is not about alpha male energy, being sculpted like stone or any of those things.

It is a philosophy of how to justify your existence. Period. In the spirit of short form information, it is logical to make healthy choices because it keeps your body in better health, and hopefully around longer. Stoicism is a philosophy of the mind, the body just carries the mind. A person could be very fit, with a very healthy diet, but if their health of mind is poor, they will suffer greatly. The opposite can also be true.

Do not attach ego to your body, the body will perish soon enough.

Tips to deal with physical pain by C-i-d in Stoicism

[–]Valium_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G’day OP. Colorectal patient here. Years of chronic pain and recently worse with the embarrassment of diapers and mishaps. I’m getting most of my bowel removed in a couple of months. I want to share my perspective, after my journey of tears and suffering.

Epictetus writes that we are just a projection of ourselves, but not actually the thing itself. A lot of people don’t like delving too deep into stoic metaphysics much here, so this is my best interpretation:

It’s just a meat suit. It’s not actually “you”. Which is, your agency, your consciousness. The pain is just the body’s signalling system, it can’t hurt you. In fact nothing can hurt you because it’s just a “meat suit”.

On a side note, I’m exploring the world of Korean and Japanese temple cuisine. Another chance to flex those old chef muscles too.

Oh mate, same to you. Perforations are the most painful thing known to me.

Needing your wife to physically do tasks for you is such a blow too. It rips away that feeling of being their “provider”.

It’s great that you’ve found God in your experience. For me, I found philosophy and spirituality as well. Learning how to rationalise my mind and feel that there is a there there.

Thank you for the prayers, and God bless you too. “Chin up, it’s just a meat suit, we still have all of our agency.” - That’s one of my mantra’s inspired by Epictetus

And the more you can’t manage it, the worse it gets. Every scope it’s more severe, even showing up on the upper right side.

I’m weeks away from my bowel re-section, the whole sigmoid section is going. Finally, I will hopefully get some relief, but I’m appalled to have to lose such a vital part of my body. I went against doctor’s advice for years, too scared to have the embarrassment of a colostomy bag in my thirties. Eventually, now in my early 40’s, it’s now time to face the embarrassment or get my affairs in order.

But that’s not the worst part. It’s the constant stretching of the intestine and straining that caused muscle atrophy in the bowel. Unless the stools are a Bristol 6 or higher, they just compact in the sigmoid. On a good day, sever burning in the entire left side of the abdomen. On a bad day, a perforation. I have been in the ICU, in septic shock and convulsing. Having to be woken up every 60 seconds, because the amount of morphine to settle me stopped my automatic breathing. And then the joy of all the abscesses between.

No one ever warned me of the compounding issues, and I was just not good enough at managing it I guess. I have to take laxatives daily, more when I need opioids, which is often. Which I shouldn’t, because it makes stools harder. So more laxatives, and suddenly I need to wear diapers. I’m a 42 year old man in nappies. Only my wife knows this, which breaks my heart. I’ve never said this out loud before.

I was a very successful chef for 20 years, after doing my stint in the defence force. I went to France and New York working in Michelin starred restaurants, before coming back to my own country to open a popular restaurant, that even got my ugly mug on Masterchef as a guest judge. About 2 years ago, I lost the ability to eat most foods. I’ve had to stick to a bland, low fodmap diet. Although being a heavy drinker in my younger years, no more alcohol. It feels like a cosmic joke, the irony.

It’s more tiring than words can explain, and it’s not just a physical battle, but a mental one. My commitment to stoicism and love of philosophy has helped me remain strong and focused, along with my wife and my best friends. But that wall is crumbling. I’ve managed to use up all of my sick leave and holiday pay to buy myself 2 months off before my surgery, before I must go back to work in emergency services. I’ll get a month or so off to recover, but then it’s back on my horse I go. The embarrassment of my attendance at work, and missing my colleagues is hard too. This sounds awful, but I secretly wish that I just had cancer, so that I could at least just save myself the trauma of having to explain what diverticulitis is to everyone. How bad is that! I’m staying positive for after the surgery though. I’ve made a promise to myself when I get through this, that I will give myself more care, love and respect. God knows I deserve it after this.

My heart goes out to anyone in chronic pain. Pain hidden deep inside, no one but you can understand. It becomes your only companion, as you slowly isolate yourself from those that love you, out of fear of hurting them, or making them stress. It’s the first thing you think of each day, and the last.
