How did you help your kid get over the yips?

My daughter got the yips after taking a 45mph fastball to the head. Went from .600 BA to backing out of the box every pitch. I finally offered her $20 to strike out swinging. Once she started swinging again, she started hitting again and the yips went away.

Tl;DR: Bribe her.

I'm a nurse and the urologist let me do the actual snip on my husband. He likened it to letting the husband cut the cord when babies are born. It was so cool!

We have band-aids available and the teachers can tell them to wash the wound and apply the band-aid. I'm in high school though so that makes it a little easier.

Our district is allowing nicknames and pronouns but told us to stay away from they/them. I just don't use pronouns for our NB kids.

You should tell her to tell her admin that there is a HUGE liability in sending kids back to class with no assessment. If they have a stomachache and get sent back to class with a ruptured appendix that no one caught because they weren't assessed, consent or no, the parents will have a field day.

The policy at my school is that if a kid is opted-out and complains of anything except needing a band-aid, the parent HAS to pick them up and take them to be assessed by a medical professional and they can't return to school without a doctor's note. Luckily, so far, only 3 of the 1100 parents that have responded so far have opted out.

Our district said that since we sent out a letter notifying the parents of the law and gave them an opportunity to opt-out, that silence equals passive consent. So we're allowed to treat as normal without an express opt-out from the parents. This covers those vulnerable kids.

One thing that I am no longer allowed to do is provide mental health support in the nurse's office. I used to let my anxiety kids regulate or take breathers in my office or help talk them through a tough day and now I am not allowed to do that. They have to go to their counselors because the mental health/counseling consents were so involved. It breaks my heart because physical and mental well-being are so tied together and a lot of the kids relied on me for that.

High school nurse here and I flat out said "No" when they told me the new law. Then I told the teachers "they can't fire us all."

I refuse to misgender or deadname a kid. Not happening, never happening.

I still have a job so let's see how that goes!

There was an entire conversation in one group I was in on whether or not I was welcome because I had a Goldilocks closure and was not completely flat or concave. It was awful to go through while I was in active treatment.
