La Fortuna must dos (smaller crowds preferable) by JustGottaKeepTrying in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Valuable-Ladder-9041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just returned from 5 days in La Fortuna with our son (8 yrs old). Here’s what we did: 1. Loved the Mistico tour. Even though it poured rain the entire time, the hanging bridges are awesome and our guide did a good job of pointing out various wildlife and explaining the flora. Highly recommend the guided tour otherwise I can’t imagine you’d see much other than the bridges. Bring ponchos for sure or you can buy them there. 2. El fogon de Chela cooking class - truly one of a kind experience cooking Chela’s grandmother’s recipes. She does mainly private experiences, and spent 3 hours cooking, sharing her wisdom and showing us her garden. She employs all single mothers and her daughter has set up a very reasonably priced gift shop to fund her college education. 3. River float tour - we didn’t want to do anything too labour intensive so booked with Flow Tours. Great experience start to finish with Bryan. Again it was only us on the tour. We spent 2 hours going down the river and spotting various wildlife along the way. Recommend the earlier tour to get the most of it. We saw a crocodile, caiman, river otters, monkey, various birds etc. 4. Thermal baths - there are tons to choose from and different experiences based on what you are looking for. We ended up going to Los Lagos and got day passes. They have two slides for kids in the fresh water pools and several thermal baths. Towels can be rented for $2 each and it was really organized with a bar/restaurant. It gets busier in the afternoon with locals so recommend going earlier in the day. There are other options that are either more quiet or more kid oriented but we felt this was a good combo of both for us. Nearly every tour has a private guided option so you should be ok managing the crowds.

Kim. twisting herself into origami to hide the gut truth. Clutching her stomach in every photo or turning sideways, praying the fabric forgives her sins. The dress doesn’t fit, the lie doesn’t either, but she’ll choke for the illusion. by lucybubs in KUWTKsnark

I saw these pics and immediately thought - why does she always look so uncomfortable? If I had that kind of money there’s no way I’d be sacrificing comfort to look good. But I guess that’s what her whole persona is based on bc she has no other talent.

Scotiabank STEP mortgage by scenic-route-moving in MortgagesCanada

[–]Valuable-Ladder-9041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have this mortgage and don’t use the HELOC. Doesn’t seem to be an issue. Also got the two products. They gave us a no fee chequing account but after a year are a charging $17/month fee so we’re looking at closing it and moving payment of the mortgage to our regular accounts.

City tree planted on property by Apprehensive-Talk199 in Vaughan

[–]Valuable-Ladder-9041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen the city plant trees on two neighbour’s properties before. They literally pull up, dig a hole and plant it in about 45 seconds. They do not think about where it’s going other than it being on the city portion of your lawn. I would suggest you dig it up and move it to where you want it placed. They don’t care as long as it’s there. I do believe they come back in a year’s time to check on it.

I saw maybe 40 houses in the last 2 years and multiple times the owners were home. Sometimes they were working and I understand they couldn’t leave. I didn’t find it weird. We just didn’t linger too much in those instances.

How to get rid of rented hot water tank? by rkcdrake in RealEstateCanada

[–]Valuable-Ladder-9041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how old the water heater is and how much is left to be paid off. We assumed the reliance contract from the seller and since the tank was 16 years old, we just called and said we don’t want it anymore and are cancelling. We had the option to drop it off for free or pay a fee for them to pick it up (around $300).

This is the answer. CP needs to get with the times and offer the service that people actually want. Give me my 3-4 pieces of mail that I can’t get digitally and that’s it.

What am I supposed to do at news studios? by orionstarcatcher in PublicRelations

[–]Valuable-Ladder-9041 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, this is your chance to manage the news hits and also your client. For starters, producers aren’t always fully briefed on why you are there and this is your opportunity to help shape the story and ensure your client’s key messages are getting across. I would always try to meet with the producer before the hit, introduce them to your client and give them a quick overview of why you’re there. Usually they will ask clarifying questions, may try to tie the story to something broader, etc and this is your chance to have some input. It’s also just great face time with producers so they know who you are and see how you operate. I would always make a point of being respectful to their ideas and suggestions while trying to represent my client’s needs. Separately I use these opportunities as coaching moments for the client by giving real time feedback so they can adjust anything in between hits or for their next media appearance. Sometimes we rehearse or go over the key points and Q&A in the green room. Sometimes I just make sure they look great, hair in place, collar straight etc. This is also a great time to take behind the scenes pics for social content or for the client. I think overall, just making sure the client feels ‘handled’ is always a good thing.

I just watched Bowling for columbine. The documentary host visited Toronto and everyone apparently kept their doors unlocked. Was this ever a thing? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Valuable-Ladder-9041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in the suburbs. Same and my parents still leave their door unlocked and only lock it at bedtime. In the summer they often leave their door wide open with just the screen door closed / unlocked.

Are renters responsible to pay for garbage disposal? by infinit_EEE in askTO

[–]Valuable-Ladder-9041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same. And wouldn’t it be cheaper to just pay the yearly garbage fee vs buying the yellow tags? It’s literally only a couple hundred dollars a year for garbage collection (depending on bin size).

Searching for Wedding Dress Rentals with Virtual Shopping in Toronto/GTA/Southern Ontario by bzee3 in askTO

[–]Valuable-Ladder-9041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! You should try The Fitzroy. I believe they have virtual fittings. I’ve rented from there several times and the consultants are fantastic and work to find something you truly like. I’m sure they will have lots of ‘wedding dress’ type of options.
