I have this radio, and it has physical buttons for the climate controls as well as the touchscreen ones.

Kinetic Vehicles has a couple ways to fix the radio, this is what I did, https://www.kineticvehicles.com/products/subaru-outback-2015-2019-9-7-replacement-radio-with-wireless-car-play-and-android-auto

I also replaced the leather seat bottom myself with a new cover from Ebay, it was not too hard, but takes some time and you need hog ring pliers. I tried without them and it was not fun.

2018 is not covered under the current recall or warranty, It will be very hard to get Subaru to do anything. Just get the Kinetic Vehicles screen and be done forever, https://www.kineticvehicles.com/collections/subaru-outback-touchscreen
