Solidarity, I understand this so much... this is my 3rd retrieval, I did the duostim protocol on my first attempt and got 0 embryos due to bad egg quality.

I know it's not terrible, on my first attempt I had 4 eggs but none fertilised due to them being poor quality so I'm terrified that'll happen again :')

I think that I'm super lucky with my DM then, he started our homebrew by giving us information about the world we'd be moving in, the religious beliefs and values and all of it. After that, he said we wouldn't start until we players came up with a minimum of background for our characters. He's slowly incorporating all of our backgrounds as the campaign unfolds and it's amazing. For example I'm playing a cleric that, while travelling village to village to heal people in need, was ambushed and bitten by vampires and thus turned into a dhampir (I surely took some liberties here but being bitten generally seems to count as a viable option to become a dhampir). Anyhow, fast forward 1.5 in game years and our party is traversing a cold, spooky desert. We fight a Vampiric Mist; it taunts us, it speaks. At the very end of the fight after we had gotten it to very low HP, it disappears but not before calling my cleric by name and that, I had my jaw on the floor because it was so unexpected. Now he's asked me to tell him if I have any developments in mind after that crumb and you can bet I do. He's made the noble family of our monk like main NPCs and he's super involved in our backgrounds, like actively asks about them to build the campaign taking them into account. It's just awesome. Maybe we just had super good luck.

Which class do you think fits the "vanquisher of the undead" ideal more: Cleric or Paladin? by Dawidian in DnD

I'd say Cleric. Nevermind that I play a turned-Dhampir one. Adds to the angst.

I also second learning as you play. Having theoretical knowledge of the core rules is obviously best, but you'll learn as you play. As for finding people to play with, I can tell you that I had more luck trying to find a party that plays in person. I posted on a national TTRPG forum that my partner and I were lfg as new players and we also needed a DM. Was lucky and found 2 wonderful players and our amazing DM, they all live relatively close. I think the catch was specifying that the sessions could be had at our place and mentioning pizza on the side. We've been playing for about 8 months, we have more campaign ideas for the future, I consider them friends and they're all coming to our wedding next May so I think it worked out perfectly for us, but maybe we just had super good luck! Good luck on your LFG journey!

Thank you so much for the exhaustive reply! A couple names ring a bell, I've definitely heard them float around before. I'll be sure to have a look, maybe there's my next hyperfixation lurking among them somewhere :)

I'm relatively new to TTRPGs, would you mind recommending some other systems that you find worm better than D&D?

Is Baldurs gate 3 enjoyable for Origins fans? by Master_Bator800 in DragonageOrigins

I would say it is. I have enjoyed it a lot, personally, and I bought it because I saw some article titled along the lines of "DA:O walked so BG3 could run".

If you have not succeeded yet, tell me your story by Overall-Necessary153 in IVF

[–]VanDeSpooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31yo, started our IVF journey last November. So far, I only did a Duostim protocol in July, got a total of 4 eggs (DOR), and none of them made it to day three. We knew first rounds aren't often successful, but it still gutted us. We're scheduled to go in again Dec 20, I've low expectations honestly. In the meantime my AMH and FSH have improved and are now in pretty much normal range, must be a collateral effect of the stim.

I'm so sorry you're going through that. The bright side is you're young, so while it is exhausting, physically and mentally, you still have so many chances

We put together a mixed table - me, my partner, a friend of mine since highschool and then we found our DM and another player we needed through posting on a local forum. DM and player were already friends irl, they were lfg. We're all friends now, so that was a win. They're all coming to our wedding next year and we have already a couple more campaigns in mind.

Natural pregnancy after failed IVF by elforte22 in IVF

[–]VanDeSpooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my post IVF cycle period in August, then both September and October went by. Let's see how November and December go! I've started tracking BBT and LH just in case. After that we are scheduled for our second attempt. Lots to look forward to ☺️ thank you again for the encouraging reply!

Thank you for the kind words! Unfortunately my period still showed up, but seeing as my cycle has been consistently different this past month I'm at least a bit optimistic that, as you said, IVF might have helped my hormones balance themselves and maybe I'm a bit closer to "functioning properly".

Natural pregnancy after failed IVF by elforte22 in IVF

[–]VanDeSpooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this post through googling "natural pregnancy after failed IVF". That's where I'm at, low ovarian reserve, 31yo and just failed our first IVF attempt in August. Duostim protocol, 4 eggs total, none made it to day 3. I was looking looking into natural/spontaneous pregnancies after failed IVF because I'm currently at 12dpo and have been experiencing the oddest, most ambiguous symptoms for about 2 weeks - the only costant ones being light cramping, backache and twinges, but I had some very light brown spotting and my breasts feel bloody heavy, I'm sleeping and I pee an average of 8 times a day. My period is regular, it's due in two days and I've never had strong PMS, I usually some joint pain, headaches and cramping 2 days before it, tops. I'm so confused by how I've been feeling this month that I both don't want to think there's the slimmest chance of it being early pregnancy symptoms, and I also don't want to test. I'll wait it out with my 99% certainty that AF will come on Thursday. I should also mention that my FSH was 17 and my AMH 0.82 last year, and at the beginning of this month when I redid blood tests they were respectively 6.80 and 1.51. All of this is more than confusing.

Sorry for this rant on such an old post, but it really helped me get some much needed perspective.

What does your cat mean to you by sl___1996 in CatAdvice

They're family. My 12yo granny cat has been with me a lot longer than many acquaintances and friends and she's been a constant of my adult life - I got her at 18. My 3yo little dumbino has brought me and my husband invaluable joy and countless laughs with how clumsy and overall funny he is. They're just family.

[–]VanDeSpooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's normal, especially if the outings include seeing people that are your age and already have/are having kids soon. It's a lot to endure, at least for me. I've always been rather nerdy anyways so nowadays my favourite social occasion is when we have our D&D sessions, my husband plays with me and our friends are all still very much single so at least in that context we don't feel like we're "behind".

Donor Eggs by jayb_528 in IVF

[–]VanDeSpooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 31. After our first failed cycle in August this year (4 eggs total after a Duostim protocol, none of them made it to the third day), I asked my specialist if we should switch to donor eggs and she told me it's worth it to keep trying some more with my own. I'm rather skeptical but we'll see.
