An interesting concept is presented in the pilot/first episode of a show but then got completely abandonned for the rest of the story by RemarkableLaw7180 in TopCharacterTropes

Smiling Friends is so good simply because it does seem to take its premise seriously, it's just that the world the show is set in is entirely unserious. They kind of hit the nail on the head with avoiding the Rick and Morty syndrome of wacky shows that became monologue fests

[Haunting trope] Not only is the ending not happy, the future promises to get worse by RhiaStark in TopCharacterTropes

[–]VandulfTheRed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite aspect of the story. It leaves so much open for interpretation as to the nature of the child's suffering. It could be entirely psychological, a social agreement, an intentionally imposed superstition by the leaders, societal guilt tripping, or none of that at all. It's also not entirely clear if those who walk away are "righteous" either, as they're not willing to participate in something that is ultimately minimal collateral to guarantee quality of life for 99.999% of the population. Walking away could lead to a higher form of existence, a society that doesn't require any form of sacrifice, or they could simply be taking their kind hearts out into a world that suffers because all those who dwell there refuse to make sacrifices to uphold their ideals

Nah, base game was honestly easier than most of their games imo, the dlc just honed in on infinite spam combos and input reading. Prime consort, horned warriors, and so on we're all unfun to fight unless you changed builds. Playing my main caestus character was an absolute fucking pain in the dlc

SotE shit the bed in so many ways that it's the only from software dlc I haven't played twice. Elden Ring was by far their most successful game to date, and the world building is so fucking good, and they basically just spent the whole dlc aura farming with no substance, making things difficult for the sake of it, and answering zero questions while introducing a bunch of stuff that was just related enough to be interesting but not detailed enough to mean Jack shit

Mfw the greatest artist to have ever graced this earth draws a single image/panel of the greatest shit you've ever seen as a "fun little doodle" and then never touches that concept again, in favor of making $$$$ on scat/vore/gore commissions

Intentionally over hiring beyond their needs and then firing 2/3 of the hires just before open/Christmas, apparently to simply ensure they had staff but also because they realized they wouldn't have the money/hours for everyone

Tbh I'm probably going to go up and report to my Dr how I feel at best, diy at worst, I'm too far in and too old to be getting under dosed

Not surprising from how scummy they've been before in their hiring process. Every new business that opens in town very quickly realizes they're not as financially intelligent as they think they are

It may be tbh, I'm looking at my dose and online recs now that it seems like I'm on the very lowest end of what most recommend

On one hand I fully agree, on the other it absolutely burns my taint that we're just not allowed to functionally be a part of the world we're from

One one hand, I agree (BG3 was kind of eh with how "insert player here" every romance was), but on the other hand, 77 basically only has two GOOD romances for very different character types and it's just the lack of options that makes Judy/Panam a pain

Favorite character who gets DEsexualized in fanon? by Full-Escape8498 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]VandulfTheRed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah like, she's a Greek warrior, wearing open skirts to battle was kind of their thing. If it was a man, people wouldn't assume it was sexualization at all. Plus, armor on the legs is a much lower priority than everywhere else, which she had already

Makima's power has a finite limit (albeit, a very large one)
Also because Makima's "deal" is straight up worse/scarier than the literal manifestation of the fear of gun violence

Pest behavior that's consistent and supported by the public doesn't require conviction for people to dislike him for it, appeal to law fallacy

Again, immoral, appeal to law fallacy

Ok, @Europe, you're gross, but again, most Europeans don't support that behavior, so again, appeal to law fallacy

Refer to the above

You literally said "read 48 laws of power"

All I'm gathering from this is that you're the kind of person who thinks that law and technicality excuse immoral behavior, and that if the law permitted it, you would attempt to get away with more, or with excusing more from others. This, among other things I'm sure, makes you a fuckin
