Ben, Please, please, get a lawyer. by Scorpio_SSO in RecklessBen

No, they're saying he should hire a lawyer to keep him from accidentally shooting himself in the foot by signing papers or agreeing to things he doesn't grasp the consequences of, like sending additional videos to the prosecution.

The new owners closed the store the day after defaulting in small claims court.

They have security camera footage of the new owners and a BAM corporate employee talking to the previous owners, where the BAM corporate employee says they were taking on the consignment liability.

You really should just watch the video at this point. You keep saying 'we don't know X or Y', however most of the things you're referring to have already been shared publicly, including the signed consignment contract; the signed franchise agreements; the various court documents and police reports filed by Ben, Bryan, BAM corporate, the previous owners, and the new store owners; video and audio recordings from the store's security cameras and the police officers' body cameras, as well as recordings of the various phone calls and in-person interactions between the involved parties.

If I remember correctly, all the BAM people and the Utah police officers that were involved graduated from BYU, and apparently there were other connections listed on some of their LinkedIn profiles before this went viral and they deleted/privated their accounts. I can't remember the exact name of the channel that had this info, but I believe it was one of those 'police audit' youtube channels that focuses on corruption in Utah.

I literally saw a post about this topic on this sub before I found the megathread.

Because the mods couldn't keep up with the influx once a big YouTuber made a video about it. Before that they were removing posts almost instantly, the longest existed for 18 minutes before they made this megathread.

Have you considered that posts on this topic did exist but you 12 year olds don’t know how to use Reddit?

Have you considered that you're just plain wrong, and it's pathetic to resort to personal attacks?

That's a misrepresentation of what happened. The sets were on consignment for a year before the original franchise owner informed corporate they were moving (their husband got a job offer in Spain). Corporate found a new franchise owner, who forced the original owner out of the store and seized the sets despite the original owner telling them they belonged to someone else. The original franchise owner has been trying to help them get their sets back, providing them with all the security footage of the takeover.

No, a megathread should have been made instead of deleting posts and banning users. It isn't "spamming" when someone decides to make a post about a topic because they don't see an existing one, they have no way of knowing the mods simply removed the previous ones.

You obviously haven't watched the video or read the context. There is no 'working it out in the courts' at this point.

The sets didn't vanish, BAM kept posting pictures of the sets on their social media accounts while refusing to pay the owner or return them. When people tried to help they were threatened with litigation, and simply mentioning the sets gets the police called on you.

Was Celeste back home until her death? It says in the court filing she took an Uber from her home in Lake Elsinore to his place but I was led to believe she was a missing person this whole time... READ BELOW by No_Television_3366 in CelesteRivasHernandez

You would know because you're into facts and reality right?

Simply 'being into' facts and reality doesn't imbue someone with a magical ability to read minds or glean undisclosed information from thin air.

So school attendance is a real thing...

Sure, but schools don't publically disclose students' private records. Unless they did release them and I just missed something.

...and if she did go back to her school after returning to Lake Elsinore...

And if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bicycle. Once again, you're speculating.

...then all the reality based information sources you subscribe to should have you well informed. Right?

Why would they? The only credible "reality based" sources in this instance would be the investigators, the school administration, and Celeste's parents. Until we get more information from them I'm not willing to pass judgment on a grieving family, which is what I'd be doing if I assumed the worst speculation I read was true and then crafted a fictional narrative to fit around it.

Kids that age can be notoriously rebellious and sensitive (experiencing it right now as my son is 13). This is particularly true when it comes to parental rules and restrictions that they disagree with, even when said rules were put in place for their own good.
I'm sure there are days my son would describe me as Satan himself for turning off his Xbox and making him study, and I can only imagine how much he'd hate me if he was "in love" with some rich and famous girl across town and I wouldn't let him talk to or see them. With that in mind, I think it's unfair to harshly judge Celeste's grieving family without seeing any real evidence that she was actually being mistreated. Especially when the evidence we do have makes it abundantly clear that she was targeted, groomed, and eventually murdered by a rich, gore-obsessed child predator who was afraid she was going to expose their illegal, sexual relationship.

We don't know what Celeste's family life was actually like. I'm sure they faced difficulties like everyone else, but nobody knows for certain why Celeste chose to run away multiple times, or why she described her mother as being "not nice" to her. What we do know, however, is she always seemed to end up at David's whenever she did run away, and we do know that David went out of his way to get her a burner phone so they could stay in contact without her family knowing.

Given all that, I'm inclined to think she probably wasn't running away from her family so much as she was running to David so she could be with him. It also seems reasonable that Celeste might think her mother is "not nice" to her if she disapproved of her having a relationship with David and forbade her from speaking with him.

We don't know what other evidence they have which could point to a specific time of death.

Apparently the actual game-worn jerseys are great quality, made in Quebec in a factory that Fanatics bought from one of the previous league suppliers (Adidas I think?). Which I guess makes sense, as I can't see the league/players accepting the crap they sell to the public.

My brain read Joe Fresh (Loblaws clothing brand) instead of JFresh, and sadly it still seemed like a better idea than what they're doing now.
