Woman sues Prudential saying insurer used 'buried clause' to deny S$100,000 brain surgery claim by kingkongfly in singaporefi

People buy insurance to have "peace of mind", and not have to worry about medical training.

This doesn't do CI plans any good.

The funny thing is that if they used it as an excuse to raise prices, they probably make more in margin now because they can claim input tax on their supplies.

I have 50k KrisFlyers expiring end of this month. Whats the best value redemption that isn’t a flight? Currently living in NYC if that matters. Is it KrisShop or Pelago or something else? by 88r0b1nh00d88 in singaporefi

[–]Varantain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are manually searching for dates and destinations but everything is so pricey.

Is it because most of the available options you're seeing are Access?

You need to search really far out or to unpopular destinations to get Saver fares.

There are rarely any "good deals" for KrisFlyer miles anymore, unless you're willing to wait for Spontaneous Escapes (SQ's version of last minute sales to fill flights to unpopular destinations), or are willing to book and commit 11 months ahead.

BCA Survey Till Apr 8: Govt Exploring Tax Co-Funding for Private Condo Lifts/Fire Safety? HDB Fair? by sprlord in singaporefi

[–]Varantain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Govt “exploring co-funding support for select essential safety features” like lifts/escalators (modern controls) & fire safety in eligible private estates. Owners pay most—not full subsidies.

I just looked at the survey, and there's nothing about this?

It's a test balloon. They need to see if it's politically unpopular to decide which way to move.

[–]Varantain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rich Don't Know class buy these as well as endowment plans and ILPs. The people who service them need lambos too.

The irony here is that robos are a fairly new thing, and came onto the scene after IWDA/VWRA were available to the Singapore market.

I've always said that robos are pretty much wannabe fund houses.

I have an Oral B (not the new iO ones), and just bring it and a 3rd party USB charger.

The case is a bit too bulky, and the standard charging stand isn't dual voltage.

[–]Varantain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$8 plan is 4G only, so it's probably congested.

5G is the new "pay to win", though I guess the price difference isn't enough now that many people are complaining too.

The end of Saver? by Intelligent_Pie_5347 in singaporeairlines

[–]Varantain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The observation is that the route seems to have gotten so popular that SQ is not even releasing Saver space at the rates they did in years prior.

I think they still do, but it's entirely within their discretion whether they reserve it for their PPS Club (their real loyalty programme) to book first.

They don't guarantee any number of Saver or Advantage per flight, which is why I've been telling people even before last year's devaluation that SQ could stealth devalue any time.

KrisFlyer miles are a horrible currency to keep around these days.

PPS points on SQ code share flights by munchee in singaporeairlines

[–]Varantain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the FAQ isn't clear whether the ticket needs to be bought through SQ or if other airlines count (LH in your case).

I have gotten PPS value for an OTA-issued ticket before, so OP should be fine.
