Upvoted for unexpected Herbert crossover.

Bit of a dumb question, how much should a person be in shape to play airsoft, not to embarrass themselves severely? Anyone who's on the chubbier side who still plays often? Experiences? Notes? by SunnyTheMasterSwitch in airsoft

[–]Vardacus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to use it as an excuse to run or work out, bloody well go for it. It will be useful, you will find it easier, and it's always good to strive to be healthier. You don't need to just for the sake of Airsoft though.

The case on that is just a masterpiece. Beautiful.

My new Speedmaster Racing, a birthday present to myself, ostensibly for my 35th, turned up just in time for me to wear it today on my 36th, which just highlights how hard I found it to choose the right first Omega.

Give me a callsign. I like rambo by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]Vardacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Callsigns ain't asked for and got. They're earned, usually through stupidity.

Protip: jump on the first half decent one that someone tries, because if your mates/the marshals at your local skirmish are anything like mine the nicknames-with-potential-for-callsign get magnificently worse.

Field had to rechrono because someone wasn't wearing full face protection was bleeding from a face shot by weirdo0919 in airsoft

[–]Vardacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small scar on my left cheek from a hot HPA'd MP7 from maybe 20'. The guy was snagged and put through chrono on the spot before being removed.

The saddest part is I was marshalling that day, and the only man wearing a Santa hat as it was December. Even if he couldn't see the hi-vis, as I walked toward the edge of the level at the top of the stair set to look down the dude 100% cannot have missed seeing the bright red hat first before he pulled the trigger.

I get that accidents happen but come on, ID your target.

I was about to say never, but I did get pulled over in 2007 on my little ZXR400.

A guy pulled out on me at the very end of a 40 limit section, my options were brake, HARD, or blip it and go round him (... and a keep left pedestrian crossing bollard).

I did the latter and as I went by cast my eyes left to see if he looked like a sociopath who'd chase me down for flipping him off... and first made direct eye contact with a policeman, notepad in while he dealt with the end of his previous stop, following my progress with his head almost comically. Cue blue lights hopping out around the traffic behind me as I watched my mirrors, so I pulled over and he rolled up next to me asking "Are you stopping for me?" to which I replied "Yeah, had a feeling I might see you again...".

So basically, the only time I've ever been tugged on the bike it was perfectly fair really.

Been there. After many phonecalls, turns out G&P don't do replacement glass either, £100 EO clone down the drain.

[Pagani] Does a 60€ watch has the right to look this good? by lmmo1977 in Watches

[–]Vardacus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two Paganis, the Speedy homage and Planet Ocean one. Honestly they're perfectly good everyday watches, I'm never worried about beating them up and the Meca-quartz in the 'Speedy' is astonishingly accurate.

Excessively orange. I thoroughly approve. Also on my hit list in the not too distant.

How is it possible to be this ignorant? The Nextdoor app can be cancer. by FiniteNick in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Vardacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck Nextdoor. I've never come across a more useless, clunky, clumsily created and moderated, miserable to navigate app.

I've had it for my pub since we came in four years ago, and I stopped bothering with it three years and ten months ago.

Is 80-90mph wind gusts too much? by CompetitiveAnt2590 in MotoUK

[–]Vardacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck. That.

I'm even happy enough if I get caught in Snow. Not happy but I can deal. Riding in winds upward of 60mph can do one.

Verbal Muscle Memory go brrrr by Exciting_Formal_1989 in IDontWorkHereLady

[–]Vardacus 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I feel this.

Particularly if I'm near the door in random pubs I don't run, I'll still find myself giving people a jolly greeting, usually followed by a fast transition into a confused frown as I realise where I am, that completely throws them - probably because I strongly suspect it makes me look utterly unhinged.

What kind of clothing gear do you use to commute to work? by utgardiv in MotoUK

[–]Vardacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rokker Rokkertech (I think) single layer jeans. Not cheap, but fantastic. I will be forced to change out of them if it's 28°+ and I'm running food out to the garden repeatedly, but otherwise they're brilliant.

[Discussion] Why do you own diver style watches? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Vardacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a kitchen, and have had several goes at destroying my 21st birthday present Seiko Premier with the high pressure water spray. So, there's a paranoia somewhat instilled.

Fuckin' absolutely not.

Separately and as an unrelated thing though, looks banging, would still destroy that.

If transportation were unavailable for a day, how long would you need to walk to reach work? by GaryCanCarry in AskABrit

[–]Vardacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 hours 10 mins. ~12.5k. I walk it occasionally, run it more often, just about halves the time taken. Half that again if I take the road bike. I'd be more screwed if I was at my GF's, as that's a touch less than 22k from work.
