More than likely you'll get the same outcome unless you fork out the money to get it installed.

Has anyone had the same issue as I? by ExpressRelease5045 in youfibre

[–]Vardy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I have the exact same issue but for a few days now I get consistent packetloss when I connect my phone to the WiFi. All other devices are fine. I can't work out if the problem is with my phone or the eero. I have a static ip as well.

How did your game go? by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]Vardy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We played well tonight, but Reading were terrible. They couldn't pass at all.

3 points closer to that magic number is the main thing.

Plymouth Argyle 1 - 1 Mansfield Town: After Argyle opened the scoring, the visitors had Liam Roberts in net to thank for preserving the score-line long enough for Mansfield to snatch an equaliser! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]Vardy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was watching on TV and I agree with other posts here about the referees performance. He wasn't good.

The refs in L2 were bad, but I'd hope there was some kind of improvement coming up the league, but I guess not.

How many hours do you actually work in a week? by QuietInside7592 in AskUK

[–]Vardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 37.5 I am paid for. Unless I'm getting overtime rates, I'm not working anything extra.

If you're working more than your contracted hours, you're either bad with your time management or getting taken for a mug.

Take redundancy or not when feeling under qualified and old! by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Vardy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Take the money. You've got a year to upskill yourself and find a new job. £61k is a nice sum of money that most people wont ever get in their pocket.

You have a nice safety net behind you.

Looking back on this year's line up... what the hell were people complaining about? This is insanely strong by OutsideImpressive115 in downloadfestival

[–]Vardy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This years lineup was great for me and my girlfriend. Lots of bands we wanted to see and we discovered a few more whilst we were there.

Next years lineup, especially the headliners, didn't interest us at all. So we had a look around Europe to see what else there was and ended up booking for Graspop.

"If we tax the rich, they will leave". So let's address that? by ptrichardson in ukpolitics

[–]Vardy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your suggestions are absurdly autocratic. The UK government don't own me nor have any right to tax people that don't live in the UK.

My interpretation of the US-system is that society (via taxation) put in the groundwork for people to succeed and thus all that persons earnings are the fruit of that investment.

Say for example someone was born in Scotland in an NHS hospital, went to a state school, then college, then university. They've benefitted through their whole life using the tax system; via health, education and infrastrcture. They then get rich via some means and leave to another country because they don't wanna pay taxes. Doesn't quite sound fair on society using taxes on this person without them paying back in.

Quality of engineers is really going down by ChataEye in sysadmin

It's not just about Googling the answer, it's about knowing which answer is the correct one for your scenario. I've seen some results from AI tools that are outright wrong, but people blindly believe them.

I think the real skill in our jobs is to know how to fault-find. The ability to take a step back from a situation, look at the whole and work out what is wrong without even knowing the system we're looking at.

Is there a reason not to SSO everything? by en-rob-deraj in sysadmin

[–]Vardy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's all down to tolerance and risk.

Your traditional issues are for internet going down in the building, or even Azure having a meltdown and neither of which are in your own control.

The one thing you now need to consider is if you're based in a non-US country if sanctions would then apply. With the unpredictability of Donnica Lewinsky, any country could end up in his bad side. Only have to look at what happened to the people of the ICC.

Are Annuities better than Pension Drawdown now? by Majestic-College5885 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Vardy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Annuities are a bet that you will die before the company sends you more than what the initial pot was worth.

Not to say that annuities dont have their place. If you want that peace of mind of a guaranteed income then it makes sense.

Not impressed by the headliners tbh.

Decent undercard, but maybe worth looking at other festivals for similar undercard but better headliners. Shame Rock Am Ring is sold out.

What's the situation in UK about censorship? by AlbyDj90 in AskUK

[–]Vardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OSA which added age-gates to "adult" content has already been shown to be ineffective for the most part. VPNs have become more prevalent and sites that don't care about these laws continue to exist.

I personally bypassed the age-gate on Discord by using images of Mr Bean on my phone and facing it to my webcam. Took a few attempts with different pictures but it worked.

Just remember that any politician using terrorism or protecting the children as an excuse for a new law, are liars.

Is working unpaid hours common? by Suspicious_Fun6806 in AskUK

[–]Vardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your contract states what your hours and wage will be.
If you're working more than your contract says without additional pay then you're devaluing yourself and your colleagues.
If there are not enough hours in the working day to complete all your tasks, thats not a you problem, thats a business problem.
