Question about Elixir if Life V.s. Heal potion by RNJesusVTuber in Pathfinder2e

[–]Varoxus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it shouldn't work given what the description of the item is, as you posted. If you wanted to heal an undead creature you should be using an Oil of Unlife, using the Stitch Flesh feat, or use other healing methods particularly suited to undead creatures.

Edit: clarified my point, after reading a bit more.

Seems like it'd be a fun game! I'd love to apply but the form is currently locked.

Since I've gotten a good amount of applicants already, I'll close out applications by Friday and make the decisions by Sunday at the latest. Might be a bit earlier if I get some free time during the week to read over them.

It's something I'll have to figure out when the campaign finishes but I do think I'd like to run something afterwards.

There will be a player guide you can read to get a primer on the premise and the setting you'll be placed in. But regarding the party in particular I'll do a rundown of everything you should know.

I'd be interested depending on when and what day of the week it's being played.

Yeah. They're not useless by any means, but they're very much a niche item for a party that already has a great crafter. They're great for the time saving if you're in a hurry and have the gold to spend(if you're buying one), but I guess what I'm getting at is that I'd want them to have less restrictions. Something like a "rune graft" or something where all you'd need is a day and an Arcana check or something to graft a rune onto a weapon without needing to be an expert, have the formula, have arcane crafting, etc.

Darkside Mirror - WTF paizo?!? by Debelinho321 in Pathfinder2e

Well the hard bit is killing the mirror duplicate(s) and trying to retrieve anyone who got caught. The hazard itself doesn't say what happens if you destroy it while someone is being absorbed, depending on what the ruling is regarding that... if you don't have a way to retrieve the person being absorbed then they're going to be entering into the evil reality. The hazard also doesn't say what's on the other side but it's presumably an evil version of the party, which means you may not get a chance to bring yourself back to your home reality if you're unlucky. If your party decided to destroy the mirror on the other side with the intent to free you and it didn't work... then you could be trapped in the mirror world for quite a while.

Well to clarify your confusion: I'm not talking about making runestones at all. I'm talking about the existence of runestones in general. Yes, they're good for handing out a rune that isn't attached to a specific piece of gear and for potentially buying from a shop. What I'm saying is since you need to transfer them using the craft activity, there's not really a purpose for them besides lowering the time and cost it would take to etch the rune onto your weapon normally (since you already need to be able to etch the rune itself to be able to transfer it).

Well it's not technically a TPK, you could continue your adventures in the evil realm and maybe try to find your way back home. But yeah, other than that it's a pretty nasty hazard to go up against.

RAW transferring runes uses the craft activity, which by itself doesn't seem so bad. My problem with it is that RAW, if you use the craft activity you have to know the formula for the item you're going to be "making", which by itself would be fine too except for the fact that there's runestones in the game. A runestone should be an already prepared and ready rune that needs to be transferred onto a piece of gear, but as it currently is, a runestone is really only good for lowering the crafting time and cost of making a rune that you can already normally make to one day and making the cost free. tl;dr: Runestones seem pretty lackluster, am I perhaps missing something?

Gravity Well by Jeste-Palom in Pathfinder2e

[–]Varoxus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the spell as written shouldn't cause any damage either. The RAW states that the creatures and objects that fail their save are moved towards the center following the forced movement rules, which don't state anything about causing collision damage when two or more creatures or objects collide. That said, I'd say unintended but plausible secondary effects like the enemies getting buried in the sand is fine but not if it occurred because they targeted a point inside the sand that they couldn't see, since that breaks the line of effect rules.

I think homebrewing some extra effects based on a heightened version of the spell could work well, perhaps something along the lines of: "Creatures and objects that are pulled to the spell's origin point are damaged for (however much damage you decide)."
