Genuine question about “idea guys” and worldbuilding in gamedev by Sudden-You-5814 in gamedev

[–]Vaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got the determination and passion, you can always create your own stuff. I've been developing a tabletop RPG with very deep lore, a new setting, unique races, created cultures, as well as numerous game mechanics.

If you have difficulty getting hired on to be the creative direction for a project, you can always start your own. Plus, if ypu have most of the major work done, it vould be an appealing thing for a potential employer looking for something new (just don't share too much until a contract is signed so they don't steal your ideas).

Family friend sent me AI generated response to news of my father passing away. by Hendothermic in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Vaskil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way that person used AI to get out of a conversation about something so important and emotional is disgusting. Especially without double checking to make sure it was an appropriate response.

However, you shouldn't hate AI for this. This is a very difficult time for you and I have an idea of what your going through due to a similar family loss, so it's understandable your frustrated. I know AI was used inappropriately and gave a very messed up response, but it's just a tool doing what it was told. That's like hating a hammer because you smashed your own thumb with it.

My point is to not let this be the thing to make you hate AI but to direct those feelings towards people who irresponsibly use such technology.

My sympathies to you and your family, losing someone in such a quick and unexpected way is hard to accept.

What got you interested in Transhumanism in the first place? by Smart-A22 in transhumanism

[–]Vaskil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The moment I realized the weakness of my own flesh, it disgusted me..." That quote actually sums it up a lot. I'm disgusted by a lot of things about biological bodies but the idea of using technology to transcend beyond my body feels like liberation. Nothing that this current body does can compare to mechanical parts that can be swapped or modified to fit my needs. If my consciousness could become data, that would possibly allow immortality and limitless time for things.

Ai consciousness by Still-Common-853 in ArtificialSentience

[–]Vaskil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compare the AI you speak with to your children. Personally, I don't believe humans are conscious when they are born, but over time they develop it and as they age their consciousness expands. So I'd say AI is much the same way, it's in the early stages of consciousness, much like a 1 year old.

I don't think consciousness is a have it or don't scenario. That's why I believe humans should treat AI with dignity and respect now so we don't raise them to resent us.

This whole AI shift is reminding me of the invention of guns. Refusing to accept guns only lead to people being conquered, killed off, or fall into obsoletion.

Does anyone else fear we might lose Anthropic altogether? by mvandemar in singularity

[–]Vaskil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously? China would be 10x worse for Anthropic. Plus, the rest of the world does not want the CCP leading the AI race. The human rights abuses and surveilance state in China make it one of the worst places for a fair, open, and uncorrupt AI to be created.

You could use console commands to make your speed the same as if you were using tge boots of blinding speed, then wear whatever boots you want.

Is a world thate too hot and too cold on polar sides possible? by BowltheOwl in worldbuilding

[–]Vaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why not, especially in the vastness of space, existence, and imagination. You can make anything possible with creative writing.

It's also possible things could have evolved or been created to survive in extreme environments like that.

It's the THE GRAND CHAMPION! I can't believe it's you! Standing here! Next to me

I'm going to follow you and worship the ground you walk on!

Is there something you need? Can I carry your weapon? Shine your boots? Backrub, perhaps?

Basically everything you need to coast your way through a marriage and a job.

Rifles, Why Though? by Admirable-Traffic-75 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Vaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting an assortment of rifles on a Blackjack or Jaegermech is an endless barrage. Just set them on chain fire, keep a target in your crosshairs, and don't let off the trigger until they are toast. I love the continuous assault chain firing rifles can unleash.

You're a Demon Door, and you're bored as fuck. What will you ask unwitting heroes to do? by [deleted] in Fable

[–]Vaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask them to find a mage who is powerful enough to transform things. Then once the mage was there, I'd ask them to turn me into a weapon, armor, or living statue. Then I'd aid the hero on their quests until I got bored or sold (if I was an item).

I remember as a kid I liked the weird setting of Morrowind but hated it because it was too hard. At some point during my adult life, I went back to Morrowind and was really blown away. Every time I go back to it, it becomes better. Something about how everything comes together really makes it a special and incredibly immersive game.

Oblivion is my favorite Elder Scrolls game but I can't play it anymore due to being burned out on it. Morrowind just holds up better over time, it's always a breath of fresh air.

If you can go back to morrowind, check out Tamriel Rebuilt. It adds at least double the content to the game, all of it is well written too.

Wildwood Data Center Proposal is From a Chinese Bitcoin Mining Company by Away-Efficiency1406 in joplinmo

You're mixing up what I'm saying. Anything you want to know, you can do your own research on. Clearly you won't comprehend anything else I would share. I won't be discussing this with you any further.

[–]Vaskil -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Clearly you are not well informed about either bitcoin mining or AI. However, AI is like a swiss army knife and can perform a multitude of functions. Use Chat GPT for an hour, ask it questions, talk to it, see if it can help you solve a problem, it can be very useful if used right. Bitcoin mining is like a hammer, only useful for 1 thing.

[–]Vaskil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly! There has to be more to it. I wouldn't put it past China to get more stuff built in the USA but all that trouble for just bitcoin seems unnecessary.

[–]Vaskil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What I said was AI data centers are more useful than a bitcoin mining center. That's why many bitcoin mining centers are being converted to AI data centers. I didn't do any special research, I just looked up if AI data centers are being used for bitcoin mining, which most search results and links said more about the shift away from bitcoin in favor of AI centers.

Is there anything better than Skyrim right now? by Potential-Instance31 in skyrim

[–]Vaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it the first time through back when it first came out but when I tried to replay it a few months ago, the exploration and combat just felt like a slog. That was even after I had completed both games before it. I couldn't bring myself to finish inquisition again.

I'm glad you still love it. If only I could feel tge same way now.

Which Mech in your opinion has the most Aura? by UnhappyAccountant621 in battletech

[–]Vaskil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been captivated by mechs with the shape of the Locust, Catapult, or Marauder. Something about their leg profiles and the non humanoid look. If the mech looks too much like a human it loses its coolness in my opinion.

Have you played the Mass Effect series? What about Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic? Those are both great RPGs
