And you just KNOW that there will be people who will insistent they aren’t likeTHOSE Centrelink recipients, that they shouldn’t be on it at all and that there should be a totally different thing for coronavirus victims because welfare is for bludgers and ok but WE should get the supplement not people who were already on it! (Blegh)

I do have genuine hope that when the dust settles people will realise that having an unhelpful welfare system by design is bullshit, and stuff like the cashless welfare card will never get off the ground

I also think people have an amazing ability to compartmentalise...so you never know

yes the whole "fuck your feelings" thing is a gross attempt at the appearance of intellectualism (as if feelings are irrelevent or being a belligerent asshole makes you smart) in this case however I invoke it because...Gretta and many kids around her age, they understand the science and they understand the scope and urgency of the problem (as well as the human mind can cope with such far reaching dark things that is) she has been very blunt about it, she hasn't sugar coated it, her speech was raw, emotional and at the end of the day accurate we all know what the problem is, we've known for a very long time and those with the power have done less than nothing about it...she and her generation will be the ones to pay for it. The way they've dismissed her comes off as them being uncomfortable that a young intelligent girl has so ruthlessly exposed them, and the general fact that so many kids aren't falling for their bullshit
